A Local Authority in the Midlands requires a Debt Recovery Legal Officer to join their team for a minimum of four months with the strong possibility of being extended beyond this initial period.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include:
- Handling own caseload of around 100 files
- Advising and collecting Council's debts such as Council tax, overpaid housing benefit and trade refuse collection
- Preparing LBA's and issuing Court proceedings
- Dealing with enforcement actions
- Preparing witness statements and attending Court for charging order hearings
- Dealing with debtors at Court and over the telephone to negotiate payment proposals

Candidates with experience working within a Debt Recovery/Litigation Legal Department within a Local Authority would be preferable.
