The positions will ideally start in September this year when the new academic year begins. The school is a relatively small, modern secondary school that was built in the 1970s but has undergone significant development and improvements to keep it up to date and attractive to both pupils’ and staff.

Both 2012 GCSE and A Level results were records for the school and they expect continued improvements over the coming years. As the bar is set high they are looking for academically gifted graduates with a passion for English combined with a desire to learn what it’s like to work in a secondary school classroom.
The skills you will need to be successful as a teaching assistant, aside from a degree in English and a love of literature are a creative approach to learning, the ability to adapt your presentation to pupils’ of differing levels of attainment, flexibility, a strong and friendly personality and an inspiring nature that will generate real interest in any given subject or piece of written text.
You will be working with some fantastic teachers throughout the English department that will support you as you support them in the classroom. At times you will be working with the class a whole plus additional work in smaller groups possibly with SEN (special educational needs) pupils’ and also with gifted and talented students

Their successful Maths department is keen to recruit an academically gifted Maths graduate to work as a Teaching Assistant on a full time basis, for the rest of the academic year. Your excellent skills in numeracy will be used to good advantage both in a class setting, smaller groups and some 1:1 support. The pupils you will be working with are of mixed ability so it is crucial you can adapt your style and delivery to suit the needs of the class and individuals.
Although the school has a 6th form you will be mainly working with pupils’ at Key Stages 3 and 4. THE ROLE OF GRADUATE MATERIALS ENGINEER / METALLURGIST:
- You will be involved in the specification of process methodology, including determining best practice for manufacture of casting alloys to incorporate metal chemistry, metal preparation and heat treatment.
- You will help research and develop new and existing processes to provide best in class performance in our chosen products and markets, including investigating alternative aluminium alloys with higher mechanical properties and thermal conductivity at elevated temperatures.
- Key success factors, in which you will play your part, will involve: development of high performance aluminium alloys specifically for high strength powertrain products at high temperature, development of improved grain refinement, number of materials datasets completed, and number of research projects completed.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES NEEDED BY THE GRADUATE MATERIALS ENGINEER METALLURGIST:
- You will have a recognised formal engineering qualification im materials engineering or metallurgy or another applicable subject combined with some relevant work experience in industry (possibly via work placement) or in research.
