Athona Health require a Clinical Neuropsychologist, minimum Band 8a for an initial one-month period to start as soon as possible based in the West Midlands region.. The client offer a specialist rehabilitation inpatient service to adults with complex disability due to acquired neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. We require a part-time locum neuropsychologist to support their inpatient service whilst they coordinate the substantive appointment for the service. The main duties of the post comprise provision of a neuropsychology service to inpatients with cognitive or behavioral problems resulting from acquired brain injury. The neuropsychologist would work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing goal-oriented, individualized programmes of rehabilitation to inpatients on a 23-bedded ward. As well as carrying out clinical assessments, including detailed cognitive assessments, the post holder would be responsible for designing and implementing programmes of behavioral and cognitive rehabilitation, to be implemented by the rehabilitation staff. Attendance at case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings, goal planning and family meetings would also form a core part of the workload. The neuropsychologist would also be required to provide advice and support to patients and team members regarding other issues, such as adjustment to disabilities, coping mechanisms and management of mood disorders.
