Learning Support Assistant needed for a large mixed comprehensive school based in Sandwell.
Are you a Psychology graduate looking for experience within a secondary school from September until the end of the academic year?
If you are a Psychology graduate with an aim of either becoming a Clinical psychologist, Educational Psychologist or an SEN Teacher then this is the perfect opportunity for you!!

A large secondary school based in Dudley is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant in September 2013 to support a pupil on the Autistic Spectrum. The school would like to give an opportunity to a Psychology graduate is considering a career in Clinical/ Educational Psychology or SEN Teacher. Your main priority will be supporting KS3 but you will be asked to contribute to KS4.
The pupil has only recently received his statement and the school are keen to offer him all the support and development their excellent inclusion policy can provide. As such the school are keen to appoint September to help with the progress of the child.
This is an exciting opportunity for an applicant who can use their theoretical knowledge of ASD and the behaviour issues attached, to support a pupil within a structured and safe school environment.
The ASD provision within the school is good and the SENCO is passionate about developing their facilities and understanding, in order to accommodate the complex needs of the SEN pupils. Due to the increase in diagnosed and understood Special Needs, the school has increased the amount of support staff it has on roll. They are committed to training and developing all staff and a member of the team, you will provide with training and development of courses.
This is a ‘good’ school which has added fantastic facilities to itself in recent years. The entire IT infrastructure has recently been modernised and updated, with a PC and interactive whiteboard in every classroom, as well as a 25 screen, purpose built ICT classroom. As an LSA supporting a pupil with ASD, you will be able to help the child develop with special interactive programmes to encourage greater levels of communication.
