ITN Mark Education would like to welcome an accomplished Teaching Assistant to apply for this KS1 TA role in Tile Cross, Birmingham.

Successful Teaching Assistants will:

We are working with a mainstream primary school that requires a qualified and experienced teaching assistant to work in there ASD unit. This school provides this provision for ASD children in the Orpington area. With 8 children to each class, the unit caters for children in KS1 and 2. Many children are non verbal and have challenging behaviours.
The ideal teaching assistant will be at least NVQ2 trained with a working knowledge of Makaton and/or PECs. You will have experience in a similar role, working with ASD and challenging behaviour and knowledge of the KS1 and 2 curriculum. You will show patience and creativity and have a genuine love of working with children who have additional needs to help them reach the best of their ability, everyday.
Due to commence after the half term, the role will be to work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a safe and stimulating class room environment while supporting the children’s educational, social and emotional development. Some play time support will also be required. This role is to commence after the half term and continue until the end of the academic year with a view to continue after the summer break.

Teachers work hard to address the balance but this is where the role of the class TA becomes vital.
Supporting students on a one to one and small group basis it will be your responsibility to help ensure the students make excellent progress in both Maths and English. You will need to develop new methods of helping your students understand the work they have been set and help them to develop confidence in their learning.
The successful candidate will need to be a clear communicator and have the patience to explain concepts in a number of different ways. You will need to be passionate about education and ideally be considering a career path in teaching. The role will be a whole academic year starting in September.

We are working with a pupil referral unit in Dartford who require an experienced teaching assistant. The school caters for students in KS3-4 who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion.
