W5 Recruitment are currently seeking an exceptional Survey Engineer for international oil & gas operations. This is a permanent position.
The Survey Engineer is involved in the installation, operation and maintenance of survey equipment on survey vessels, ROVs and other survey systems.
The successful candidate must have experience using equipment including standard PCs and peripherals, GPS positioning equipment, acoustic positioning systems and sonar sensors such as side scan and multibeam echosounders, geophysical & seismic data acquisition systems.
Essential experience / qualifications:
HND or above in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or related disciplines or suitable time-served experience in other industries.
Appropriate military or industrial training & experience is also acceptable.

Our client is Britain’s award winning leading provider of privately owned later living accommodation. Property development is at the heart of their business, but as the needs of their homeowners have changed, they have also developed other services designed to provide homeowners with a greater life in Later Life.
An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join the company at their Head Office in Bournemouth, on a full time basis.
As a Senior Surveyor, you will be responsible for achieving accurate financial control of individual sites with particular reference to monthly valuations on all contracts, calculation of sub-contractor liabilities, analysis of computer costs, comprising labour, materials, plant supervision and other overheads.
With responsibility for the Commercial aspects of individual developments, you will analyse Construction Budgets and categorise into Cost Codes. Sending out enquiries to sub-contractors and making comparisons between quotations on a like for like basis, you will put recommendations to the Commercial Manager and place sub-contractors using the company standard form with the aim of reducing areas of risk and claims for extras. You must make monthly measures or valuations of each sub-contractor’s work for the purpose of making a monthly interim payment to them and also input for the Cost Budget Reconciliation (CBR); agreeing sub-contractors final accounts on completion of the contract and reporting back to the Commercial Manager.
This role involves a considerable amount of financial responsibility in particular you will negotiate final prices and accounts. In addition, you will aim to improve site presentation, price up all VC’s so that costs can be accurately reported and prepare Lego Estimates and abnormal costs from the minimum of information for sites which are under consideration for purchase.
Due to the nature of this role, the Senior Surveyor will be required to use their initiative and make important decisions. Precision and accuracy coupled with confidentiality and discretion are all vital, you will ensure that you are familiar with all National and Regional agreements and will have knowledge of the company’s estimator system or ICS in order to train others and solve problems.
Previous experience in the industry with Developers and Contractors is essential, as is some management/supervisory and negotiating experience. With a sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, you will also be educated to HNC or equivalent in Building or Quantity Surveying.
Candidates who currently hold a professional qualification i.e. RICS or MCIOB are preferred, however this is not essential.
The role is office based however two to three days per week will be spent on site visits; therefore you must be prepared to travel.
Under the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) the Senior Surveyor will require a current card and have or be working towards the relevant industry qualification in quantity surveying.

Our Computer Aided Modelling Bureau provides invaluable support to high-profile criminal investigations and police operations. Specialising in sophisticated survey technologies and Computer Aided Design, our dynamic, close-knit team reconstruct and analyse crime scenes of varying size and complexity. Ultimately, the work is exhibited in court and our surveyors act as expert witnesses.
You’ll attend crime scenes and other sites (often at short notice), carrying out land and measured building surveys using both traditional and advanced laser scanning technologies. Combining your technical expertise with post-survey processing skills, you’ll also liaise with police officers, barristers and the Crown Prosecution Service to determine investigative requirements and product detail. Ever mindful of critical operational needs, your products will be ready for police investigation and criminal trial within challenging timescales. In addition, you’ll also manage survey data and building plans to assist Property Services in effective decision-making regarding the MPS estate.
With an established background in land and measured building survey company, you’ll have a broad range of practical experiences in measured surveying and CAD systems. Added to that, you’re proficient in best practice survey principles and post-processing survey software. A professional survey qualification, or completion of a recognised survey-related training course, will be ideal.

-Experience of managing ecological survey programmes and in managing the associated reporting work streams

Our Client, a leading environmental organisation and one of the largest regionally based consultancy and engineering services with offices around the UK is looking for an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to fulfil the following duties.
Consultancy to assist with achieving points relating to land use and ecology for Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments
Leading the bat survey and mitigation work for the ecology team
Undertaking design and management of ecological surveys
Undertaking extended phase I habitat surveys and surveys for legally protected species
Writing factual and interpretative reports, including method statements and management plans
