We work for one of the largest charities that require staff to provide temporary cover to 16-25 homeless young people all around London.
Contract will initially be on a temporary basis but for the right candidates contracts with the charity are offered.
We are seeking life mentors- so candidates that can meet up with the young individuals, that may have alcohols/ drug/ substance misuse or challenging behavior and build up relationships and trust with them, support etc- acting as a role model and inspirational figure.
Aspects of the role will involve:
Supporting and helping them in this difficult time and help them get back on their feet.
Admin report writing.
Computer and IT literacy- as will need to navigate around the internet to show young person how to claim DSS payment/ rent collection/ benefit enquires or queries or CV creation.
Basic life skills
Manning and working within reception- ensuring security and also young people within the hostel have a contact and support point of call if they have any problems
Occasion provide support to them in the weekend and night
Type of residential housing varies and the charity is huge. On some of the houses the hours will only be during the day. On some there may be the occasional night shift where you will either need to be awake or you can sleep and just be a presence at the unit.
You may also need to work the occasional weekends.
Other information:
Basic Hours: 37 hours per week
If 3 month contract not offered, there is also an option of being placed on their rota to provide cover until a longer term contract becomes available.
They are looking for individuals that are passionate and want to make a difference and are also polished as progression is possible.
The reason I mention the above is as there are so many units so the main thing is to impress and then you will be placed in a unit that suits you best. The more flexible you are the better it is for all of us and more work you will get.
Pay:
8ph to 9.74ph
On units where outreach work involved, pls keep receipts and this will be refunded by the charity.
We have various roles at the moment varying from ad hoc shift cover to part time to full time.

Their range of services enables Looked After Children to gain the skills and confidence to progress from specialist residential homes to family placements, such as fostering or independent living.
They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Care South Operations to join them to have overall management responsibility for the residential operational services across the South of England, and to provide strong leadership and the direction to support their organisation.
Within this role, you must develop and sustain effective and productive relationship / partnerships with all external agencies, professional bodies and stakeholders, ensuring strategic vision, qualitative objectives and ethos of care is implemented throughout the homes, whilst liaising and advising of recommended developments to the Chief Executive and the Board.
Ensuring each young person has the opportunity to attend qualitative education and that each of their children's homes meet the standard and expectations contained in their Statement of Purpose, you will establish and maintain best-practice systems, risk appraisals and quality assurance procedures to ensure high quality, high value services and good outcomes for young people and Local Authorities.
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a tertiary level qualification (Social Work Degree, NVQ 4, child related) along with a Management Diploma or equivalent; have good written and verbal communication skills along with solid IT skills. With the ability to integrate as an experienced senior team member, you will have proven experience of working with a wide range of contacts within Social Services Department and the ability to achieve relevant commercial applications within the Childcare sector. Knowledge of employment legislation would be desirable however is not essential.
