Safety Engineer with experience of ISO 26262 to work with a leading automotive client in Birmingham. Candidates should have experience of Electronics, Electrical and Control Software. Suitable for either a lead of junior Engineer. The role requires a well-rounded engineer with a good background in electronic, electrical, mechanical, control and software engineering and extensive experience of Safety Standards and Safety Analyses. Responsibilities: 1) To analyse EPS system safety at all levels through a series of formal safety analyses (including hazard analysis, Hazard Testing, FMEA and FTA). This requires a pro-active approach to ensuring the safety of the system in a pragmatic manner. The responsibility includes the requirement to work as part of the cross-functional product development teams of engineers drawn from the TLES Company and its suppliers. 2) To provide technical leadership for Safety Standards and Safety Analyses, including checking and approving analyses performed by others. 3) To act on the results of any safety analysis or validation test result to ensure that the safety and integrity of the electric power steering system is not compromised in any way. 4) To develop a reliability analysis, to advise on the best use of statistical techniques and to provide reliability estimates to form part of a commercial case to the EPS business and its customers. 5) To develop new system features, components and diagnostic algorithms that will improve the safety or reliability of the system or improve the coverage of the built-in protection systems. 6) To work with the customer to set safety acceptance standards, to develop customer-specific safety analyses and to ensure that the customer's safety expectations are met. 7) To ensure that the supply-base is fully aware of the safety-related requirements and responsibilities. 8) To support all projects with analysis and expert advice. Personal Qualities - Essential 1) Degree or similar qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related subject. 2) Experience in safety engineering with a working knowledge of IEC 61508 and awareness of ISO26262 and other Legislative Safety Requirements 3) Experience of safety analyses of electro-mechanical safety-related products. This experience should include participation and organisation of hazard analysis, failure mode effect analysis and fault tree analysis. 4) Knowledge of statistical methods used for reliability analysis and design of validation test regimes. 5) Meticulous attention to detail. 6) Must have confidence to represent TRW with suppliers and customers. Our client is looking for experienced Nuclear Safety Case Authors (both AVA and AVB) for long term contracts working on decommissioning and radioactive waste projects. Positions are available for for full-time positions, covering both authorship and verification.
Applicants should have significant nuclear safety case authoring experience and qualified to Magnox standards. They should also ideally have experience of the Magnox Decommissioning Handbook.
Experience of some of the following safety assessment techniques would also be beneficial:
• Hazard identification - HAZAN, HAZOP, FMECA, use of operating experience
• Deterministic assessment - good practice in design, fault schedule development, task analysis
• Probabilistic assessment, fault trees, FMECA, operating experience

Typical qualifications and experience:

The Role
The H&S Advisor liaises with the HSQE Managers, customer and contractor H&S Managers / Advisors as necessary. The H&S Advisor's role is to augment those of the Site Manager + the Assistant Site Manager who have direct and ultimate responsibility for project health and safety performance and ensuring adherence to the applicable Procedures and Method Statements.
• The maintenance of the Construction HSQE Plans.
• Completing site staff safety inductions and / or ensuring the quality of site safety inductions performed on site.
• Review contractor's risk assessments and method statements (RAMS); and performing site surveillance to ensure that contractors' works are being completed in accordance with same.
• Maintain construction HSQE Risk / Hazard and site notice boards / induction rooms.
• Observe and conduct tool box talks.
• Undertake relevant safety coaching and mentoring with contractors to improve their understanding of and adherence to co H&S requirements.
• Provide advice on the production of RAMS.
• Ensure that Site Rules are established, understood, observed and suitably monitored for compliance.
• Actively participate in and in some instances chair weekly site safety meetings.
• Ensure that First Aid facilities are established and suitably maintained.
• Monitor the Project / Contractors' CoSHH; procedures, assessments and storage facilities.
• Control site Personal Protective Equipment register.
• Assist in the production of the Project Safety File as work progresses.
• Provide immediate Accident / Incident / Near Miss on-site support, including; investigating, reporting, establishing root causes and completing trend analysis as required.
• Enhance the role of HSQE in all site activities.

The Person
• The successful candidate will have proven H&S exp working on large new build infrastructure / refurbishment projects, related to civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Have a recognised safety qualification (minimum NEBOSH Certificate) and preferably hold professional membership of a British safety institution (e.g. minimum Tech IOSH or Grad IOSH).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and influence at all levels, within the organisation and externally with clients, suppliers, trade bodies etc.
• HV electrical, crane and lifting procedure experience.
• Ability to work at height; training and medical will be provided.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Ability to be site based for the duration of the project.
• Good IT, information systems skills and competence with Microsoft packages; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Renewables experience beneficial but not imperative.
