I currently have an urgent requirement for a proven Accounting Policy professional to join an International Investment Bank. this is a 6 month assignment.
The London Accounting Policy team in this Bank is a high profile team in Finance with close relationships with the Front Office, Project Managers and Group Finance.
The objective of the team is to:
• Prepare written IFRS accounting opinions relating to business transactions and new products
• Provide the accounting policy input relating to business transformation projects
• Provide support and advice as required relating to IFRS policy questions
• Prepare senior management briefing notes on technical accounting developments and assist with the interpretation of new accounting pronouncements and their implementation
• Organise and present regular technical update training for colleagues in Finance
The successful candidate will:
• Prepare IFRS accounting opinions on exceptional Fixed Income, Equity and Commodity Derivative transactions. The team reviews in excess of 100 business transactions per annum with recent transactions involving collateral exchanges, gas storage and structured capital market trades.
• Contribute to the Group led technical accounting and standard operational booking and downstream reporting analysis of multi-location business transactions
• Provide technical input to business transformation projects such as OTC derivative clearing, Agency or Principal role in Prime brokerage activity and accounting for business combination and disposals within Group companies
• Implementation of IFRS for financial statements including advice on notes to financial statements and adequacy of documentation. Recent assignments include the review of IFRS 7 and 32 on the transfer of assets and offsetting.

As a regulator our client was set up in 2004 as the independent regulator responsible for authorizing and regulating NHS foundation trusts. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 changes the way health care is regulated. Their role will change significantly during 2013 as they take on their new responsibilities as the sector regulator for health care.
Their main duty is to protect and promote the interests of people who use health care services and they will regulate all providers of NHS-funded services in England (except those exempt under secondary legislation). They will do this by promoting the provision of health care services which are effective, efficient and economic, and maintains or improves the quality of those services.
Policy Economist - Job Purpose:
The Pricing team will be responsible for ensuring health care is bought and paid for in a way that enables and promotes economic, efficient and effective services that deliver good quality care to patients’ needs today and tomorrow.
The pricing team’s core functions and responsibilities include:
• To produce the National Tariff Document (working closely with the NHS England) that sets out the methodology and prices for NHS services and associated rules and guidance for variation
• To agree with the NHS England a long-term pricing strategy and undertake associated research, development and evaluation projects
• To publish, communicate and engage with commissioners, providers and others on the National Tariff Document and other pricing tools
• To assess and determine outcomes of variable caseload of local modifications with other teams as appropriate.
Main Accountabilities:
• Undertake research to inform future pricing methodology development
• Lead work streams within projects as agreed by the Pricing Strategy Lead into development, piloting and evaluation of different pricing regulatory tools

A knowledge of IFRS, charity SORP and Government Accounting would be useful but recognise that no one is likely to be an expert in all three. Research Sites Restoration Ltd lead the way in the field of nuclear decommissioning and manage two nuclear site restoration programmes under contract to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. RSRL are looking to recruit an Assistant Waste Policy and Compliance Manager. The Waste Policy and Compliance team ensures that waste management activities within RSRL are carried out in full compliance with legal obligations and regulatory requirements. The team designs and maintains the quality systems for waste management within RSRL, as well as providing technical advice and independent oversight of RSRL projects’ arrangements. Processes are regularly reviewed to deliver cost-effective solutions which are aligned with developments in national policy and strategy. The Assistant Waste Policy and Compliance Manager will advise on the effectiveness of waste management arrangements at Harwell, and confirm that all wastes transported off-site are fully compliant with legal, regulatory and contractual expectations
The main accountabilities of the role will include; Developing and reviewing strategies for the characterisation of radioactive wastes; Supporting the implementation of effective waste management processes for
individual projects; Actively contribute to decisions of strategic importance for the management of waste within RSRL; Supporting the implementation of practices which align with national strategy for the management of Low Level Waste; Supporting the development of the QA System for waste management; Supporting the independent assessment programme; Assisting with staff training; Managing communications with external waste processing/disposal organisations; Ensuring waste released from site complies with relevant Permits and conditions; To encourage continuous improvement within waste processing.
As the successful candidate you will possess a science or engineering degree, or equivalent; Experience in radioactive waste characterisation and management; Be comfortable when analysing large amounts of numerical data; Understand the theory and practice of radiation detection and measurement; Understand the legislation relating to radioactive waste management; Good leadership and line management skills; The Ability to write clear, concise reports suitable for external review; A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
