We are a market leading design, development & manufacturing organisation with a global supply base. Due to product development and streamlining we are currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to undertake a varied, autonomous role in support of production and supplier development.
The Manufacturing Engineer’s role will be diverse and span full support of in house production and also providing manufacturing guidance to suppliers to ensure accurate quality products are delivered. Key accountabilities for Manufacturing Engineer will include:
New product introduction
Streamlining existing products and processes and feeding back to design to improve product quality
Process development / continuous improvement
Assist with supplier audits and identify gaps in the documentation used with suppliers and implement corrective actions for problems
Work with suppliers to identify areas for design improvement utilising lean manufacturing tools such as Poke Yoke
Work with engineering and supply chain to manage and control engineering change

The ideal candidate will be HNC/D + qualified Manufacturing / Production Engineer with a number of years proven experience in a mechanical / electro-mechanical manufacturing environment. Excellent problem solving skills essential as are first class communication skills. An understanding of lean manufacturing techniques highly advantageous.

* Good level of computer literacy, in particular MS Word and Excel. Experience in MS Access and PowerPoint desirable.
* Familiarity of CAD/CAM programs, Enovia DMU and/or Catia would be an advantage plus knowledge of business systems such as MRP also preferred.
* Strong communication skills with demonstrable teaming and influencing attributes.
* Prepared to travel within the UK to meet the customer and/or suppliers (plus possible overseas travel).
* Good problem solving skills and determination to ensure the timely embodiment of preventative actions.
