W5 Recruitment are seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer for a major international client, to be based in the Tees Valley office.

You will provide geotechnical design and reporting work for a range of interesting projects mainly in the UK. A large proportion of our work involves design of earthworks, foundations and retaining structures. Many of our schemes are multi-disciplinary and will require liaison with project teams of varying complexity and size.

The priorities of this role include: Inputting to the planning, investigation, design, construction and post construction monitoring of geotechnical aspects of projects; Preparing technical notes and geotechnical reports; Delivering geotechnical designs; Tracking of project programmes and delivery dates; Liaising with contractors and clients, both external and internal and supervising ground investigations.
Candidates should be able to exhibit a sound academic knowledge of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering, you will have a high degree of competence in geotechnical design of foundations, slopes, earthworks, retaining structures alongside a sound knowledge of design codes and standards (including EC7).

Experience of using geotechnical design software, particularly slope stability programs such as SlopeW is required, as are planning & organising skills and a commitment to professional and personal self development.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates will have a first degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering.
In addition candidates will ideally have an MSc in Soil Mechanics / Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology

As an Estimator / Estimating Engineer you will be fully responsible for estimating all company incoming RFQ's, enquiries and orders.

* Assess if the enquiry is within our manufacturing capability, approval or specification and if not communicate with the customer.
* Obtain all competitive prices for raw material; treatments, processes etc. from the supply chain, necessary in the completion of the quote.
* Carryout a full and detailed estimate using the company data rates and software within the timescale allocated by either the customer or the Sales team. Taking account of appropriate tooling required.
* Review the estimate with the Engineering and Sales teams in preparation for quotation to the customer.
* Prepare the quotation using the standard company quotation document and send.
* Monitor incoming orders to establish Win/Loss ratios
* Be responsible for the organised control of all enquiry files, documents, drawings, quotations etc.
* When an order is received prepare all information in a format capable of transferring directly into the Engineering Router ready for manufacture.
* Be a part of the Contract Review team which sits weekly to ensure that all aspects of the incoming order meet the conditions and specifications estimate/quote/lead time etc.
* Maintain an excellent working relationship with all internal members of the company and with all customers.
