Job Description Working a winter in childcare with Crystal Ski is a great way to use your childcare qualification in the exciting environment of a ski resort. You will be working with a team in one of our kids clubs, caring for either our youngest customers ranging from 6 months - 4 years in our Pepi Penguin Club or our young customers ranging from 4 - 11 years old in our Whizz Kid Club. We want all the children in our care to have a safe and fun holiday and you are responsible for providing a stimulating, caring and safe environment to the highest standards. As part of the Pepi Penguin Club you could also be employed as Crystal Private nanny in the customer's chalets, at times you may also be needed to help care for the 4-11year old children in the Whizz Kids Club. Similarly, if you are part of the Whizz Kid Club, you will be responsible for providing the children with an active and exciting experience with bum boarding, snowman building, arts and crafts and drop offs and pick ups from ski school Our Childcare positions require you to be qualified in childcare to either NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, hold a valid First Aid certificate and be CRB screened. Previous experience in childcare and the package holiday environment is an advantage. Being able to ski is not crucial but a desire to learn will mean you have a fantastic winter season. Please make sure that if you apply for this role you have copies of your childcare qualifications as well as a valid First Aid certificate (or be booked on a First Aid course) as you will need these for your interview. Requirements Essential Minimum of NVQ 2 or equivalent in childcare. Valid First Aid certificate. Passion for childcare. Excellent interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic and positive manner. Ability to work unsupervised with a strong attention to detail. Team player. Desirable Second language in French, German or Italian. Description of duties

• To work as part of a team to ensure effective and appropriate communication with parents, carers, members of staff and external agencies.
• To be responsible for the day to day running of the unit and operate in accordance with the Ofsted Guidelines.
• To assist with all activities in the nursery as requested by senior staff.
• To be involved in decisions regarding movements of the children and allocation of key workers giving the appropriate guidance and support where necessary.
• To act as a mentor for students and apprentices on training placements.

We currently have an opportunity for a Deputy Manager for our home at Walnut Tree Lodge located near Bedford.
Within this role, you will be proportionately responsible to the Senior Management Team as delegated by the Registered Home Manager for the Home as a whole to include budgets, the fabric of the building and the recovery of children. Working alongside the Registered Home Manager, you will ensure any new developments regarding policy, procedures or processes are communicated to team members keeping in line with all standards and procedures.
Developing and maintaining relationships with all staff, including management level, you will be able to support, reflect and evidence the progress of individual children using our recovery programme. You will progress and encourage continual relationships with all external agencies including Ofsted, Education, Health, Social Services and all other regulatory bodies.
The successful Deputy Manager will hold a Foundation Degree in Therapeutic Childcare or equivalent, and hold experience of residential work with young people who have a history of serious deprivation and abuse – sexual, physical and / or mental. Proven experience of supervising staff with in a residential setting you will have the ability to manage in stressful situations and will contain anxiety effectively. Ideally you will be working towards NVQ Level 4 in Childcare, Residential Work and hold management experience.
