Site Officer/Caretaker
Salary £17,895 - £18,983 pro-rata
37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year (job share or part-time will be considered)
The Silverstone UTC is pleased to invite applications for a Site Officer/Caretaker to support the College Governors and the Principal in the maintenance and development of the UTC premises, such that the facilities and overall environment fully support the overall aims and visions of the UTC.
About the College
The Silverstone UTC, opening in September 2013, is an educational partnership led by Tresham College of Further and Higher Education and sponsored by The University of Northampton and Silverstone Circuits Ltd.
Overview of the post
The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the security of the premises and contents at all times as determined by the UTC’s management, supervise and monitor the use of the UTC’s facilities by external agencies and hirers in consultation with the UTC Management Team and act as the designated keyholder and principal contact for police and emergency services out of normal UTC hours.
Applicants must be have good all round level of education to include Maths and English to GCSE (Grade A – C) or equivalent level (level 2) and some experience in electrics, plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating and general DIY type repairs.

The main location of work for the postholder will be a scheme in Scarborough which provides temporary accommodation for homeless families (in 24 apartments) but the post holder will also be expected to be available to provide a basic caretaking service to other housing schemes in the Scarborough area, and carry out occasional basic property maintenance tasks at these properties. THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have experience of maintenance work on buildings/properties. Our client is looking for someone who can confidently work independently but also great as a team player. The candidate will also have an understanding and be able to deal with difficult situations such as anti-social behaviour. POST - SITE SERVICES ASSISTANT
WORK PATTERN - 52 Weeks x 32 Hrs
REPORTING TO - SITE SERVICES SUPERVISOR
PURPOSE OF THE POST - To assist the Site Services Supervisor in ensuring that the Academy’s buildings and grounds are safe, clean and functional at all times when the Academy is operational and are secure when not in operation.
1. GENERAL -
• The post holder will in respect of his/her personal conduct, personal presentation, and the execution of his/her job, present a positive role model to the students of the Academy
• The post holder will conform to the Academy’s dress code.
• The post holder undertakes a shared corporate responsibility for the health, welfare, and safety of the Academy’s students, will be aware of the Academy’s safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare policies, and will conform to and act in accordance with these policies at all times.
. PERSON SPECIFICATION -
The post holder will -
• Have successful experience of a buildings supervisor’s or caretaker’s or similar role;
• Have at least basic craft and technical skills;
• Be IT literate;
• Have good interpersonal skills enabling effective positive interaction with staff and students
