We are now looking to recruit an Apprentice Process Technician for our Suffolk branch to join the apprentice development programme. The programme is an opportunity for the business to develop skills and knowledge for the future and to bring in fresh perspectives and ideas, at the same time enabling people to earn as they learn their trade and gain a recognised Level 3 qualification.
We are looking for an apprentice to develop the skills and knowledge of water treatment chemistry and associated processes and to provide advice and assistance to our operational teams who work on and are responsible for the water treatment works. The apprentice development programme will give you the opportunity to work alongside a Process Control Technician, learning the requirements of the job and at the same time working towards an appropriate academic qualification.
The role also involves analysing data, and using your excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports and investigate issues. You will need to demonstrate your enthusiasm for science, that you are someone who takes pride in their work, and why you see this as an excellent career opportunity.
We would like to hear from you if you have/expect to obtain ‘A’ Level Chemistry at grade C or above as well as a GCSE grade C or above in English. We will be looking for candidates with practical and technical aptitude. Equally importantly we will be looking for people whose attitudes and behaviours are in line with our Values. We need people who will always aim to exceed the expectations of their internal and external customers, who will take responsibility for achieving excellent results, will be open and honest and meet their commitments with a responsible approach to the environment and our communities and will consistently co-operate and work with others to achieve objectives.

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8am – 4pm and Friday 8am – 3:30pm

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:
-Substantial experience in a senior ecology role within a commercial environment
-Very strong technical skills and considerable experience of technical review, leadership and staff development
-Excellent knowledge and understanding of best practice and legislation
-Full knowledge of the EIA and planning process
-Extensive experience in writing technical reports and proposals
-Proven experience of managing and developing existing client and new client relationships with the ability to identify and lead expansion in new areas of the business
-Proven project and financial management experience including scoping, estimating and tendering for works
-Excellent surveying skills using a variety of technical aids to carry out habitat surveys and protected species surveys, ideally with an area of specialisation

Our client is an independent multidisciplinary consulting and technical services company providing specialist support services in the areas of environmental planning and compliance, land assessment, remediation and health and safety management. They have a large environmental services sector which is heavily involved with assessing new developments for their environmental impact and providing support throughout the whole development process.
They currently require a Senior Ecologist to assist with the management of the existing ecology team at their office in Hertfordshire.
The role will involve a degree of management of the existing ecological staff and the provision of high level technical advice to clients. Other duties will include the management of large ecological projects and survey programmes as well as the production of technical review reports. The successful candidate will also be expected to help grow the ecological capacity of the team through training, recruitment and the establishment of an accredited network of ecological sub-consultants.
Applicants must have at least a first degree in Ecology or a closely related subject and have a minimum of 3 years experience of working on ecological projects, preferably within a consultancy environment. Experience of housing, energy or infrastructure projects would be advantageous as would the holding of a protected species license. The ability to project manage, organise and coordinate a team is required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
