Located on the outskirts of Retford, HMP Ranby opened in January 1972. It can accommodate 1098 Prisoners housed in 10 wings in single and double cell accommodation. The Education Department delivers a range of programmes to the learners to support them on their learning journey and increase their opportunity of gaining employment on release.
You will be a key member of the Skills for Life team based at Ranby prison. You will utilise your knowledge and experience of Functional Skills, IT and general education to support offenders in achieving qualifications to help gain employment in their community on release.
As the successful candidate you will have:
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
A full teaching qualification (DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed)
Assessor/Verifier Awards (desirable)
Teaching/training or vocational experience in a relevant discipline/subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge
A proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes
Experience of identifying, developing and sharing innovative and creative teaching resources
Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable)
Knowledge of current curriculum and accreditation developments within Further Education and specific subject area(s)
The ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of learners and willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies
A good level of IT literacy and willing to develop further

Our client specialises in the maintenance and repair of landing gear and related components for major airlines. They have their own Aircraft on Ground (AOG) team on call ready to assist customers on-site and ensure no aircraft has to stand idle for longer than necessary.
They now have an exciting opportunity within their Technical Engineering department for a Graduate Technical Support Engineer to join the team.
Under supervision and guidance, the Graduate Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for the provision of technical engineering specialist expertise, advice and support for the production facility and our client’s customers.
You will be given the opportunity take the lead in the development of the new production processes and new product introduction projects required to maintain the company’s competitive position and provide configuration support to the production process. Supporting the repair and overhaul of Aircraft components in accordance with company procedures and in compliance with applicable airworthiness regulations, you will provide guided assistance in support of operations and will also provide customer gear configuration support to the production process.
Assisting the team in the development of new processes and new viable capability for the company, you will be provided with supervision to ensure the provision of the correct tools, equipment, training and spares to support new capability intake as requested. You will also contribute to the investigation of hazardous occurrences, review Component Overhaul Manuals, Approved Technical Publications (ATP’s) and other OEM technical documentation and must facilitate the creation and amendment of production control route sheets on the company control system (Telnet).
The successful candidate will be technically minded and ideally have experience of working in Aerospace Landing Gear MRO, with knowledge of engineering processes. The successful completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (subjects to have ideally included metallurgy and plating systems) coupled with experience of working with production control packages (MRP/ERP etc.) is essential.
In addition, you must have completed a HNC in a related engineering discipline (or be currently studying towards this), have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines within a team and have a flexible working approach.
Our client is also willing to help pursue, support and fund further training opportunities for the right individual.
