A senior audio system design engineer with deep understanding and experience of power amplifier and associated system design is sought to join an established and leading audio product manufacturer as part of a team of design engineers developing new products and core system technology.

Ideally, you will have worked on mid to high power amplifier systems operating in the audio band. You should also have a proven knowledge as well as theoretical understanding of the critical performance and reliability issues affecting performance in the most demanding applications. In addition to a thorough knowledge of all common amplifier topologies and systems, you should have prior experience working with switch mode technology including both Class D amp designs and also switching power supplies. Ideally you will also have prior design experience working with embedded systems, including User Interface and network drivers and systems. You should also have experience of designing for agency compliance (UL, FCC, CE etc) and will have experience of working across multiple disciplines including power, signal, digital and software.

The successful candidate will have worked previously within a manufacturing organisation and will have well developed team-working and communication skills, as well as possible previous team management or leadership experience. An experienced R & D engineering manager with knowledge and design level experience in electronics including hardware and software development is sought by a fast-expanding international musical instrument and audio electronics brand to lead, manage and motivate an established R & D group.

Ideally, you shall have previous experience working with audio products or musical instruments, but as a minimum you should have relevant engineering experience in a technology product category combined with a knowledge of, and interest in the music and audio equipment sector.

The role will involve the direction of all engineering and product development activity within the organisation, in particular ensuring on-specification, on-time and on-budget project delivery. Technical and design guidance and leadership including mentoring and motivating of the design team and individual engineers will be required, together with the understanding, development and implementation of best practice engineering systems throughout the organisation. Occasional domestic and international travel will be required for this R & D role.
The role is based in the East Midlands.
