Our client specialise in the provision of high speed, high volume material handling solutions for a range of manufacturing and distribution applications throughout the UK and as a result of ongoing success and a planned program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit multi skilled field service engineers to complement their established and successful team.
Based from home and covering the set geographical region, the successful candidates will undertake a range of both planned preventative and reactive maintenance and service activities on a range of PLC controlled automated machinery and handling equipment including a range of conveyor types.

Reporting to the Senior Management team and working on the design, development and commissioning of closed loop control schemes on new-build projects and existing plant enhancement schemes, the role is based within the power generation and renewables business and the successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role throughout the entire project lifecycle ultimately leading to customer acceptance.
You will be skilled in the preparation of well structured detailed design documentation and will be flexible to travel to customer sites throughout the UK, so a full UK driving licence is essential for the position. Experience of control system implementation on DCS/PLC platforms such as Schneider, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens APACS, PCS7, S7, ABB or equivalent systems and hardware engineering skills, particularly plant interface engineering will prove distinctly advantageous, as will an appreciation of safety related systems to IEC61508/61511.
You will interpret, design, develop and commission new plant modulating control schemes as well as implementing improvements to existing schemes, interfacing with hardware engineers and performing on-site commissioning of plant interfaces and control devices whilst working within a multi-disciplinary project team to demanding customer timescales.
To be considered for these exciting and progressive roles, you will hold a Control and Instrumentation engineering qualification (degree or equivalent) or comparable industrial experience and demonstrate proven control system design experience gained within the Control & Automation industries, ideally within the power generation environment. With a good understanding of power and/or other relevant industrial processes, you will possess experience in the design and implementation of closed loop, PID based control strategies and of control scheme performance optimisation and tuning, with software design experience based on the IEC61131-3 concepts utilising generic re-usable code.

Additionally you will be responsible for the creation of both reports and associated training manuals in support of site recommendations, and will prepare detailed cost analysis for new equipment and repair / rebuild proposals, as well as complex technical reports on cost savings and technical innovations as required and associated project documentation and maintenance paperwork where appropriate, therefore exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a prerequisite for the position.
