Job Description:
We are building a brand new website from scratch. Your responsibility will be to build the entire application and the required systems infrastructure. JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to one of the Team Leaders the candidate will be responsible for development and maintenance of the batch processing software running on Linux servers.
They may be expected to perform many roles across the Software Development Lifecycle from Business Analysis to System Testing. Therefore broad knowledge of Software Engineering and a flexible approach are extremely important.
High importance is attached to the analysis part of the role and the person will need to be a skilled and confident communicator who enjoys direct contact with the business. The candidate is expected to work in conjunction with others to decide 'what needs to be done' and how to achieve this. The candidate will need to quickly build an understanding of the software used in our service solutions.
The person will also be expected to use their knowledge of the business, and various data formats used within specific services, to answer data queries, and provide 2nd line support as required. Often the role will involve analysis of issues in large data sets, and devising business rules to apply to the data to correct issues. There also likely take on responsibility as the contact point for one or more of the existing services. This will involve fielding queries, impact assessments for new work, and resolving support issues and problems that cannot be dealt with elsewhere.
All work will be on Linux / Unix platforms. The code base is predominantly C++ and experience of developing in a Unix / Linux environment is expected. Strong SQL skills and experience with Database systems, preferably Oracle, are a must.
Given the skills and seniority of this role it is expected that the candidate has at least 3 years commercial experience in Software Development. Consideration may be given to exceptional candidates with less experience who can demonstrate practical skills suited to this role.

The key focus of this role is the delivery of high-quality, professional training along with the creation and maintenance of any associated training resources. Your time will be split with 60% at client’s sites around the UK and 40% at our offices in Burgess Hill. All our training takes place at the client’s location within a classroom/IT suite environment with small groups of university or college staff.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Team Leader responsible for software delivery and support for our services in the USA, the candidate will own testing and support of the Audience Measurement processing software running on Linux servers.
This role will also encompass testing new software versions to verify new functionality meets requirements, and to perform regression testing..This role requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to very quickly gain an understanding of the business, and the technical layer that implements the needs of the business.
The candidate must possess proven ability to take business requirements and specifications and test that the software produced by the team meets these.. Consequently they will act as an important conduit between the business teams in the USA, and the technical team in the UK.
Focus in this role will be on testing code from a performance perspective as the focus of the project is taking an existing system and enhancing it to cope with a 10 fold increase in data. Experience in this area and with ‘big data’ projects is highly desirable in the candidate profile.
The candidate will be expected to provide 2nd / 3rd level application support. This will include investigating complex issues with daily runs and responding to queries relating to the results produced. The candidate must be able to investigate and understand at a low level how results have been calculated. They will need to be comfortable analysing scripts, Oracle Databases and PL/SQL, and code (mainly Java but also some C++) to work out what is happening.
An ability to quickly gain knowledge and understanding to deal with problems, rather than handing over to the development team, is required. This is a senior role and the candidate is expected to work with minimal supervision once they have familiarised themselves with the domain area. The candidate must exhibit a disciplined and proactive approach to tasks.
There is a need to influence and manage people (although not necessarily direct line management) to achieve the tasks assigned to them. Consequently the candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communications skills, and be confident dealing with a range of technical and non technical people. The candidate may also be expected to act as stand-in for the Team Leader when he is not in the office.
