Our client a small niche firm of Accountants seeks an experienced Accountant person to strengthen its team. You will ideally be a part or fully qualified AAT or someone qualified by experience. You will be involved in preparing management accounts for a portfolio of clients as well as accounts preparation for small to medium sized limited companies. You will also be responsible for running multiple payrolls, so experience of working in a firm of accountants / payroll bureau / a business with weekly, two weekly and four weekly payrolls would be preferred.
You will be highly professional and be able to communicate with clients in a polite and helpful manner.

Job Description: Manage process team which delivers General Accounting deliverables including but not limited to:
* Prepare & post journal entries
* Query resolution pertaining to coding, matching, analysis, commentary etc. This may include liaison with other vendors wherever applicable
* Reconciliation to various sub systems such as legal entity costs databases
* IT cost or regional accruals & prepayments calculations, journal postings, including management of outstanding balances, liaise with business managers and business controllers to determine and agree new/revised accruals
* Review actual costs, investigate variances and book adjustments where required, review finalized actuals
* Perform various reconciliations i.e. Bank, General Ledger, Inter Company, Fixed Assets etc by reporting & clearing variances if any.
* Implement changes to accounting policy - e.g. change in useful life of assets, change in thresholds for capitalization.
* Support & perform timely month / year end close as per client’s close calendar and preparation of monthly financial statements including regional cost accounting.
* Support monthly P&L and Balance Sheet review along with substantiation and explanation for the specific business areas in the region
* Forecasting, planning & analysis
* IT service Catalogue & specific activities
* Cost modeling - exit rate analysis, trend analysis, what-if scenarios.
* Accounting policy guidance to IT clients
* Consumer Forecast - commentaries, client reviews etc.
* Under/over recovery analysis
* Budget transfer requests and approval documentation
Additional Responsibilities
* Lead governance & communication requirements
* Liaise with PMO & client during the transition period
* Ensure effective knowledge transfer & process stabilization post go live
* Manage month end process and handle escalations
* Liaison with other offshore vendors where applicable
* Well verse with transitions deliverables, due diligence, process mapping & knowledge transfer approaches
Qualification(s)
* Masters in Accounting / MBA (Finance) / CWA
* Chartered Accountant
Experience
* Minimum 5yr of experience in core General Accounting (GA) process with exposure of multiple processes within GA.
* Preference to be given to candidates with a BPO experience with reputed banking clients.
* Any experience of transitioning GA or F&A processes from onshore locations will be a plus.
* Intermediate to advance level of knowledge around accountings standards, IFRS and US GAAPs.
* Should have intermediate to advance level of knowledge for accounting principles & practices with ability to pass accounting transactions.
* People management experience of handling a team performing complex and fragmented F&A activities
Functional Competencies
* Prior experience in SAP will be a plus
* Advance level of proficiency in MS-Office (Excel & Word).

Who are Ride-Away?
Ride-Away is a highly successful and profitable on line and single store equestrian retailer based in York (YO61 1EH). For the last 20 years the business has been run by the Clark family. Pets at Home acquired the business in December 2012. The business operates with more than 20,000 SKUS satisfying the needs of horses and their riders.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious accountant to own and take control of a small, niche retailer where you’ll be exposed to all areas of accounting – from day-to-day bookkeeping to commercially-focused reporting. The ideal candidate would be a recently qualified accountant who has some prior experience of open account management and who is looking for a new challenge. This is a temporary role for a minimum of 6-months, based at Ride-Away in York and will report directly into the General Manager. You’ll also by communicating regularly with Pets At Home colleagues and so you may be expected to visit their Support Office in Cheshire as and when required, therefore you should have a full driver’s license and car.
Key responsibilities;
•Daily accountancy/ financial functions;
-You’ll be responsible for day to day accounting functions such as posting to the purchase ledger, querying invoices, setting up payments to suppliers, and raising invoices (e.g. for credit customers, or Pets at Home recharges), etc.
-Assisting with the end of day banking procedures.
-Act as a central point of contact for all finance & reporting queries.
-Matching stock invoices to goods booked in to M4.
-Matching of non-stock invoices to Purchase Orders/supporting documentation.
•Period end;
-Post accruals & prepayments to facilitate the movement away from cash accounting and the introduction of more systematic and accurate reporting.
-Responsibility for period end process e.g. reconciling the bank, posting all journals, etc.
-Reporting result back to Pets at Home and be a point of contact for any queries.
-VAT
•Reporting;
-Ability to pull together sales and margin data on a regular basis
-Help to respond to ad-hoc queries from Management.
-Monitor performance against budgets.
Skills Required;
-You will be a recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
-You should have relevant financial experience, including balance sheet reconciliations
-You must be analytical, logical, a good problem solver and have high attention to detail.
-You’ll have excellent PC skills with advanced excel skills (including Formulas, V-look ups, and Pivot tables).
-You must be a team player and an excellent communicator.
-You should have a full UK drivers license and own car, and be willing to travel to Pets At Home in Handforth, Cheshire as required.
