Development Engineer, Mechanical, Cad, Newcastle Upon Tyne, £27,000

A role has become available with a Newcastle based business, who are looking to recruit a Development Engineer to the team, you will have experience of working with 2D Cad systems, ideally Autocad, and have the opportunity to work for a Newcastle based business that is proud that all design, development and manufacturing takes place in the North East. The business has been established for the past 30 years, there are few opportunities like this in the North East, many businesses have R&D offices, but few have offices and manufacturing all on site spread over 4 large purpose built buildings. This is a major North East employee, proud of their heritage and are committed to keeping complex electronics developments being at the fore front of the business and being designed in Newcastle.

The business designs and develops complex touch screen systems that are used within a multitude of products, from vending machines to computers and many industrial products.

The role will require knowledge of a 2D Cad based system, ideally Autocad while the additional desirable skills are CNC machining, basic knowledge of programming, VB and C and some basic electronics knowledge.
The main duties of the role are;
- Mechanical testing (impact testing etc.)
- Touch sensor functional testing
- Test rig design
- Sample preparation
- Plot design/modification
- Technical report writing
- Process development (lamination, wire bonding, etc)
- Customer integration (new projects, troubleshooting existing integrations)
- Customer support
