HR Advisor - Employee Relations :

World class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a HR Advisor- Employee Relations.

Candidates must have at least 3 years "hands-on" experience within "employee relations" rather than simply academic experience.

The contract is initially for 12 months (ongoing after). The department is offering hourly rates of £20 - £22 per hour.

Please Note: You do not require current SC Security Clearance but do need to be eligible for this.

HR Advisor - Employee Relations Job Description:

To provide Employee Relations specialist advice, working closely with managers and HR colleagues to ensure a satisfactory and legal resolution to employee relations issues.

To manage and facilitate potential conflict situations to achieve consensus legally and ethically.
To provide specialist advice and instruction to managers who are leading the resolution of employee relations issues.
To work closely with managers, instructing them on their role and required actions, and keeping appropriate records.
To take the lead on investigating and resolving Employee Relations issues, such as grievances and disciplinary’s, in accordance with Company policy.

Develop strategies to improve awareness and understanding of key Employee Relations policies
To work with colleagues to ensure that HR material is consistent, up to date, and in line with the Employee Relations principles and the Company culture
To support Employee Relations activities across the UK perimeter, e.g. pay negotiations and agreed information and formal consultation plans with the TU.
To develop methods and techniques to increase manager and HR capability in interpreting and managing Employee Relations.

Project Management on a variety of HR topics, from TUPE transfers to change programmes
Providing leadership on a wide variety of Projects, and pro-actively moving projects from ideas/needs to fruition, utilising negotiation, communication, engagement and technical compliance skills.

•Employment Policy
• To ensure policies are consistently and effectively applied, user-friendly and easy to understand, legally compliant and aligned to the business and ER strategy
• To provide expertise and specialist policy knowledge within a defined business area
• To develop strategies to improve awareness and understanding of key policies
• To develop methods and techniques to increase manager and HR capability in interpreting and managing within the scope of Employment policies
• managing projects
• Manage formal cases in a legally compliant and measured manner
• Consulting with TU, and other key stakeholders

Client Facing Support
• To work with the relevant senior managers on organisational change and re-structuring, ensuring appropriate organisational design
• To act as the reference point on all HR matters within the customer base with particular emphasis on improving operational capability and supporting the achievement of the Business Plan objectives.

Skills and Knowledge:

The role reports into the Head of Employee Relations UK

• Occasional UK travel will be required.

• Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (Essential)

• Experienced generalist HR professional with a demonstrable track record in all aspects of HR management, including OD.

• Good and up to date knowledge of Employment law and Best practice, combined with the ability to coach managers appropriately

• Demonstrable Project Management skills.

• Ability to influence senior managers to carry out tasks.
