MANUFACTURING ENGINEER OFFLINE PROGRAMMING (Inspection)
Somerset to £40k plus benefits
Our client is a world renowned aerospace organisation with an enviable reputation in the development of innovative highest technology solutions to the military aerospace sector. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Manufacturing Engineer to complement their established Machine Shop team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Manufacturing Engineering department on CMM Offline / Online programming for various aspects of Casing, Prismatic and safety critical rotor part manufacture, as well as providing offline Calypso CMM programs for Casings and Rotor Head components from Catia models and drawings and providing associated support paperwork for the inspection process including bench inspection and converting existing Umess programs to the Calypso format.
Additionally you will liaise extensively with the Manufacturing and Design teams on an offline workstation and provide Calypso CMM programs for first off and full inspection requirements. You will define the CMM fixture and probe requirements for each job and create detailed set up sheets for each new component. You will also provide FAIRS (First Article Inspection Reports) and ICS (Inspection Check Sheets) to support the component manufacture, and maintain existing Calypso programs using the Seiki System.
To be considered for the challenging and varied role, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes (machining processes for turning, milling, grinding etc) and be fully conversant in the interpretation of engineering and manufacturing drawings. Essentially, experience of Calypso software (programming and job running) and hands on experience of both offline and online CMM programming are required for the role.
Additionally, you will ideally have experience in the use of Catia V5 and an understanding of FAIRS and ICS documentation and be familiar with DMFG (Digital Manufacturing Processes) and ASME Y14.43 Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

The successful candidate will perform a varied range of reliability and maintainability engineering activities on a daily basis to ensure the needs of both customer and client are satisfied, and will demand an in depth knowledge of experience in applicable techniques associated with Reliability Analysis, FME(C)A and Safety Analysis, RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) Analysis, Maintainability and Testability Analysis, R&M input to Design, DRACAS (Data Recording, Analysis and Corrective Action System) and R&M Case.
You will maintain appropriate contact with relevant stakeholders and develop an effective relationship during the course of a project, and will additionally liaise with other employees from various areas of the business to better understand their respective perceptions and expectations of you own input and performance. You will also work closely with a project team leader in order to ensure that where appropriate, timescales and budgetary constraints are adhered to and are consistent with the scope of the deliverable.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role offering an attractive remuneration package and genuine stability and career progression prospects, you will essentially be qualified to HND / Degree level in a relevant engineering or aviation related subject and will have ideally completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
You will demonstrate significant relevant practical experience of the required aspects of Reliability Maintainability, Testability and Reliability Centred Maintenance Techniques and Analysis as well as the associated activities related to DRACAS, R&M Case, Safety Analysis and ILS, with experience ideally including having worked with the generally acknowledged R&M standards used in the aerospace industry.
With general knowledge and experience of airworthiness, flight safety requirements, company engineering organisation, quality processes, operating procedures and drawing systems, you will possess excellent communication and IT skills and the ability to make sound technical assessments and judgements based on your knowledge and experience, as well as the ability to work both autonomously or as part of a busy and professional technical team.
