PHP Developer (JavaScript / SQL / XML)

Our client is the worlds leading provider of point of care systems in healthcare, including media, information, clinical support software and infrastructure services.

Position: Linux Software Developer
Location: Slough
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

ROLE:
The PHP Developer will work as part of a team on a permanent basis with responsibility for the development and maintenance of a real-time software platform, with a number of components providing users with telephony, television and other services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) In addition the provision of back-office systems and features required to support the solution delivery.
b) Full life-cycle software development as part of a team, assisting with the design and build of Linux based systems, with responsibilities including the following: Design (from high level technical specifications), Coding, Testing, Bug Fixing, and Development etc.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience.
b) Demonstrable background in business application development, with proven experience of all phases of the software development life-cycle, and experience of working as part of a team on at least 2 full solutions.
c) Technical skills in the following:
- PHP5 (Object Oriented)
- SQL (Microsoft T-SQL or Postgres)
- Javascript
- XML
- CSS
- Source control in a team environment
d) Requirements gathering and Design.
e) High quality written and clear verbal communication skills.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Creation of business logic functions in MSSQL.
b) SOAP or REST using PHP.
c) XSLT (to produce XML as well as HTML).
d) AJAX, JQuery, JSON.
e) Shell scripting.
