My Fife based client who manufactures large scale automotive vehicles and have a reputation for quality products, have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.

Joining an established production team the successful candidate will be involved in an exciting new product introduction project, providing solutions for manufacturing routes and processes and prototype development through various methods including planning, design, set up, modification, optimisation and monitoring. You will be assertive, innovative and have the ability to lead a team and inspire motivation. This role will appeal to an ambitious individual who can influence and implement change through drive and effective communication.

Roles and Responsibility:

* Demonstrate experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS) and have a
* working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
* Seek out, research, develop cost analysis, and justification for new methods, procedures,
* equipment, and materials.
* Design and implement manufacturing route / processes for all products
* Lead and participate in continuous improvement process within operations.
* Overseeing prototype development. and if necessary work to build them.
* Active role in the development of new products through the use of design for manufacture, assembly.
* Productivity and cost as well as promote an environment of continuous improvement
* Attending meetings, writing reports and giving presentations to managers, internal and external clients.
* Create and review manufacturing systems consistent to regulatory and best practise needs and correlate it with cost drivers.
* Provide feedback to Design Engineering during New Product Instruction (NPI) to ensure

manufacturability.

* Design Jigs, Fixtures, carry out trials/testing with feedback and implement with process capability.
* Willing to take responsibility in achieving product implementations.
* Develop and lead cost reduction projects.
* Identify manufacturing variability issues and work with Product Engineering, Production, and Maintenance to reduce or eliminate variation in manufacturing processes.


Key Skills:

* Experience with design for manufacture and assembly preferred.
* Experience within heavy to medium industrial manufacturing environment automotive / body building experience preferred although not essential
* Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
* Previous experience or knowledge of ProE or other Solid Mechanical CAD software an advantage.
* Ability to work with MRP systems – hands on experience in making changes to bill of material on such systems.
* Work in a New Product Environment driving design for manufacturability.
* Strong decision-making skills and resilient personality.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Health & Safety knowledge
* ISO 9001 knowledge
* Strong willed and easily assumes ownership, good leadership qualities.
* Proven skills in design of manufacturing systems, high quality of work.

The successful candidate will be a Mechanical or Structural Engineer (degree qualified or similar) and will have considerable experience in a challenging design role, ideally focused on structural steel. They will be driven, pragmatic and determined, with the ability to take hold of a Design project and see it through to delivery. Fabrication knowledge would be preferred and it’s essential that you have demonstrable experience of working with design calculations. Applicants should have frame analysis experience (ideally using STRAP or STAAD) and should be familiar with Mathcad, AutoCAD and a 3D package (ideally Solidworks).

This role will be based in Aberdeen in the pleasant surroundings of the modern office where there is an onsite gym, ample parking and a nice atmosphere.
