Super Major that recorded global net oil-equivalent production of an average of 2.673 million barrels per day in 2011 is recruiting a Senior Geophysicist to their Aberdeen business. This Operator has major operations in several of the world’s most important oil and gas regions including West Africa, the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and Canada.

As a Senior Geophysicist you will play a leading role alongside a team of earth scientists dedicated to growing a portfolio of exploration opportunities in the UK North Sea and Faroe Shetland basin. You will be required to combine regional play analysis with prospect maturation to undertake risk and resource assessments used to support appropriate investment decisions including the drilling of exploration appraisal wells.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: seismic Interpretation, 2D and 3D, velocity model building and time to depth conversion including uncertainty analysis as well as applying knowledge of seismic processing, acquisition and the integration of G&G data to constrain prospect volumetrics. The Senior Geophysicist will work in an almost purely technical capacity and will not be responsible for staff development or management.

The successful Senior Geophysicist will have an MSc in a relevant geoscience discipline and at least six years of experience of working in a geophysicist or geoscientist capacity in the Oil & Gas industry. The ideal applicant will come from an Operator background or have been ‘body shopped’ into an Operator from a reputable consultancy or service company.

Remuneration will include a competitive base salary, joining bonus, yearly bonus, a final salary pension, holidays, structured training, relocation if applicable and fringe benefits.
