As part of the build up of the project execution engineering team in Rugby, I am looking for an experienced Steam Turbine Design Engineer to contribute to Thermal Renewables, Small Steam Turbine business unit.
Based in Rugby and reporting to the local Unit Engineering Manager, you will be part of the project execution team for our small and medium size steam turbine product offerings. In this role you will be responsible for the mechanical design engineering tasks and production ordering.
Tasks and Responsibilties:
Leading group of mechanical design engineers and draughtsmen
Perform engineering work for the project eg customisation engineering of models and detailed drawings of turbine parts (blades, rotors, stationary components) and assemblies for orders (Tool set is Catia V5 for 3D modelling and 2D drawing as well as Teamcenter and R-PDM)
Customisation of product data management (PDM) eg for protocols, inspection and test plans and part lists as well as cross-check of the Quality documentation
Planning, forecasting and on time delivery as well as release of detail documentation for reviews, purchasing, manufacturing and factory/site assembly as well as for input to arrangement and layout planning, for transportation and foundation design
Co-operation with other project team members and coordination of interfaces within the group for all engineering aspects during the engineering and execution of a project
Satisfy project and specification requirements while maximizing the application of standard concepts and keeping the design for manufacture and installation as a critical aspect in mind
Technical coordination and supervision of factory works and sub-suppliers related to hardware deliveries but also of the engineering output of other design execution locations
Technical leadership of the group and support of project coordination as well of customer interfaces
Technical support of erection and commissioning activities
Technical support to tendering
Support continuous improvement of working procedures and instructions within the work package responsibility by integrating business objectives
Ensure Experience Feedback to the relevant functions in the organization (e.g. R&D, sales)

Qualifications You will have a constructive, team and target-orientated attitude with high level of self-motivation. You will have an Honours level degree in Mechanical Engineering, or alternatively equivalent qualifications obtained through a combination of education and training.
You will have a good understanding of operation concepts for steam turbines and at least 4 years strong experience in CAD (3D and 2D) of turbomachinery generator sets preferably steam turbines including life steam valves and its production/manufacturing processes. You are a professional user of IT solutions in the field of work such as CATIA V5, Teamcenter and R-PDM. Data base knowledge, and familiarity of tools like PDMS, SECAD and KKS System and MS Office are of an advantage.
Basic knowledge of power generation in general, operation and maintenance of steam turbines, safety and control/supervision and instrumentation will ease your interfacing with other execution team members.
