The Online Course Developer who is responsible to the Head of iHighbury Virtual Campus will develop high quality interactive online programmes across the curriculum.

About the College

Over 45 years Highbury College has become one of the most dynamic and successful College’s in the South East with student success rates putting Highbury in to the top 3% of GFE Colleges in the country. Highbury has undergone extensive redevelopment and the new Highbury campus, opened August 2009, provides some of the most modern learning facilities in Europe.

Description of duties

Main duties and responsibilities:

• To work as part of a team, to plan, scope and storyboard online programme development leading the technical design and implementation of the project.
• Use a range of web authoring tools e.g. Articulate storyline, Raptivity Adobe Suite and Captivate.
• To work with content writers and subject specialists to design and develop SCORM compliant e-learning programmes to host on i-Highbury’s Virtual Learning Environment
• Work with subject specialists to structure and create interactive online learning resources including assessment activities.
• Create test plans for user interface, test new online units, modules and programmes.
• Upload new in-house e-learning programmes into the iHighbury Virtual Learning Environment testing compatibility to ensure interoperability and functionality.
• Work with lecturers to create interactive multimedia resources for use with mobile learning devices.
• Make modification to e-content for delivery to other platforms, such as mobile phones and handheld devices.

Essential criteria:

• Degree or equivalent in multimedia, web design or a related subject.
• Evidence of professional development in an appropriate IT discipline.
• Experience of working with e-LT in an educational setting.
• Experience of developing SCORM compliant e-learning modules.
• Experience of developing in a Moodle Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
• Skills knowledge and experience of HTML5/ CSS.
• Ability to create interactive online learning resources and activities.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• The ability to manage several projects at the same time and work to deadlines.
• The ability to interact, communicate and work professionally with colleagues at all levels.
• An understanding of privacy and confidentiality legislation, such as the Data Protection Act.
• An awareness of website usability and accessibility issues.
• Understanding of safeguarding in the context of education.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
• Ability to meet targets within agreed timescales.

• Skilled in creating and editing digital video content.
• Possess skills in using MySQL and PHP.
• Experience of using one or more of the following technologies: Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Dreamweaver
• Membership of a relevant professional body

Hours: 37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year
