Research Sites Restoration Ltd lead the way in the field of nuclear decommissioning and manage two nuclear site restoration programmes under contract to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. RSRL are looking to recruit an Assistant Waste Policy and Compliance Manager. The Waste Policy and Compliance team ensures that waste management activities within RSRL are carried out in full compliance with legal obligations and regulatory requirements. The team designs and maintains the quality systems for waste management within RSRL, as well as providing technical advice and independent oversight of RSRL projects’ arrangements. Processes are regularly reviewed to deliver cost-effective solutions which are aligned with developments in national policy and strategy. The Assistant Waste Policy and Compliance Manager will advise on the effectiveness of waste management arrangements at Harwell, and confirm that all wastes transported off-site are fully compliant with legal, regulatory and contractual expectations
The main accountabilities of the role will include; Developing and reviewing strategies for the characterisation of radioactive wastes; Supporting the implementation of effective waste management processes for
individual projects; Actively contribute to decisions of strategic importance for the management of waste within RSRL; Supporting the implementation of practices which align with national strategy for the management of Low Level Waste; Supporting the development of the QA System for waste management; Supporting the independent assessment programme; Assisting with staff training; Managing communications with external waste processing/disposal organisations; Ensuring waste released from site complies with relevant Permits and conditions; To encourage continuous improvement within waste processing.
As the successful candidate you will possess a science or engineering degree, or equivalent; Experience in radioactive waste characterisation and management; Be comfortable when analysing large amounts of numerical data; Understand the theory and practice of radiation detection and measurement; Understand the legislation relating to radioactive waste management; Good leadership and line management skills; The Ability to write clear, concise reports suitable for external review; A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

The Group aims to develop new treatments for cancer, notably using molecular strategies to engineer cancer-killing viruses with improved potency, selectivity and ability to spread through solid tumours.
Their Group promotes a strong interface between laboratory science and clinical application, and aims to identify promising virotherapy candidates to move forward for early phase clinical trial.
The post represents a mixture of research work and skilled technical support duties. You will be educated to A level or equivalent standard in a relevant discipline and have proven biomedical research laboratory experience. You should also have experience of experimental work using mice, including awareness of the current legislation.
Experience with viruses or gene delivery vectors is desirable, as is effective communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).

Engineering Geologist (Oxfordshire)
For this vacancy we are looking for an individual who is keen to apply their geological knowledge to the characterisation of offshore development sites. The individual should have relevant experience in engineering geology, sedimentology, marine geology and geohazards characterisation/assessment.
The role involves performing engineering geological and geohazard site appraisals through the interpretation and integration of geophysical, geological and geotechnical data. The role will involve some periods of working offshore on geotechnical drilling and survey vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
Integrates the available geological, geophysical and geotechnical data for use in engineering geological site characterisation, geohazard assessments, stratigraphic, soil parameter unitisation and engineering studies
Log sediment cores for geotechnical, geological and geohazard purposes
Produces geohazard site appraisal, field, laboratory, parameter and engineering geological reports
To act as mentor to other junior members of the team
Check and correct field and laboratory data processed by others
Assign laboratory tests and manage laboratory test programmes for both geotechnical and geological purposes
Provide geological input to geotechnical engineering projects
Performs and checks geological, geophysical and engineering geological interpretations and conclusions either in peer review sessions or individually
Prepares final reports
Ensures that field projects meet HSE requirements
Acts as a technical focus point for particular technical area
Act as Assistant Site Manager, Lead Geologist or Shift Leader on field investigations
Integration of geophysical and geotechnical data, with regional data and previous experience to help understand and constrain the ground conditions across a large wind farm site;
Terrain mapping from high resolution geophysical data to assist a client in finding in an acceptable route for a pipeline that runs across seismically active continental shelf, slope and abyssal plain;
Detailed sedimentological logging to identify multiple mass movement events and assess the potential impact on foundations and flowlines
Position Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
A university degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science or Engineering Geology.
Post-graduate experience in geology and / or engineering geology
Relevant work experience in interpretation of geological, geophysical and geotechnical data for engineering geological and geohazards challenges
Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Excellent communication skills in English
Technical report writing experience
Good numeracy skills
Capable of dealing with large multiple disciplinary data sets
An interest in the application of marine geology and sedimentology
The ability to communicate complex information and share ideas to varied audiences
A commitment to producing quality work
The capacity to work as part of an innovative and highly effective team
Commitment to continuing professional development as a member of the Geological Society of London
Other skills that may be highly beneficial include:
Experience with ArcGIS
Proficiency with IHS Kingdom Suite and seismic workstations
Technical report writing experience (e.g. from applied work experience or during academic study)
