We are working with a mainstream primary school that requires a qualified and experienced teaching assistant to work in there ASD unit. This school provides this provision for ASD children in the Orpington area. With 8 children to each class, the unit caters for children in KS1 and 2. Many children are non verbal and have challenging behaviours.

The ideal teaching assistant will be at least NVQ2 trained with a working knowledge of Makaton and/or PECs. You will have experience in a similar role, working with ASD and challenging behaviour and knowledge of the KS1 and 2 curriculum. You will show patience and creativity and have a genuine love of working with children who have additional needs to help them reach the best of their ability, everyday.

Due to commence after the half term, the role will be to work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a safe and stimulating class room environment while supporting the children’s educational, social and emotional development. Some play time support will also be required. This role is to commence after the half term and continue until the end of the academic year with a view to continue after the summer break.
