MS SQL/BI Developer

An award-winning Independent Software House based in the Thames Valley is looking to recruit a MS SQL Developer. The company develops web-based desktop transformation, asset-discovery and application delivery solutions for Enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience as a commercial Microsoft SQL Server developer with a keen interest in developing business intelligence solutions using SQL Server, SSIS and SSAS (multi-dimensional).

Your key activities will include:
• Design, develop, optimise and unit test features within the company’s database products (both relational database and multi-dimensional OLAP)
• Provide development support in trouble shooting and rectifying product issues raised by customers.
• Be an active and enthusiastic member of the Engineering team, willing to take the initiative
• Estimating, tracking and reporting the status of software development tasks

It is anticipated that in order to be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
• Design and development of relational databases:
o Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 and 2012
o Excellent T-SQL
o Stored procedures: creating, performance tuning and trouble shooting
o An understanding of the differences between OLTP and data warehouse databases
o SQL Agent
o An understanding of the security principals
• An understanding of:
o Data manipulation using SSIS
o SSAS cube design
o MDX
• Excellent communication skills
• Working with Agile Development processes such as SCRUM or FDD
• Experience of developing commercial software products for sale to external customers
• Experience of working in a dynamic start-up environment

Also desirable although by no means essential is:
• Experience of Windows Development using C# and .Net
• TDD
• Analytics/discovery/inventory products
• Developing products for Cloud Computing, Virtualization, SAAS, or On-Demand environments
