Job Title: M&E Quantity Surveyor
Location: Crawley
This is an ideal role for an individual seeking a career working in a dynamic project management environment within the Rail, Private Network & Utilities sectors.
You will form part of the Project Management team to provide Commercial support in a conventional 'Quantity Surveyor' capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assists in preparation of monthly applications for payment.
Provide management with a monthly cost/income analysis on live projects.
* Prepare and present monthly cost/income accruals.
* Liaise with project managers to ensure all labour, plant and material costs are captured and recorded on projects.
* Produce variations to contracts and negotiate commercial agreements/settlements with clients to ensure invoicing queries and bad debts are minimised.
* Negotiate with suppliers and sub-contractors to secure best value.
* Preparation of tenders.
* Provides advice and assistance in planning, implementation, and improvements to existing operations, systems, and procedures.
* Represents the organisation at various business meetings, both client facing and internal.
* Effective proactive liaison with operational departments re resourcing.
* Provide professional advice and commercial support to all areas of the business, including Utilities, Private Networks and Rail.
* Administration of medium to large value contracts.
Competencies:
* B.Sc in Quantity Surveying and or HND in Building Studies.
* Member of the RICS
* Strong background in quantity surveying, and project management and estimating.
* Knowledge of project finance, budgeting, cost estimating.
* Ability to develop and prepare comprehensive financial analyses of projects.
* Knowledge of business practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within quantity surveying.
* Good IT skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera.
* Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and have the ability to effectively manage own time and meet deadlines
* Ability to take ownership and follow tasks through to completion
* Excellent organisational skills
* Attention to detail
* Team player
* Ability to work under pressure
* Flexible
* Pro-active approach and a willingness to contribute new ideas
* Full Driving licence
* Rail, Private Networks, Utilities experience desirable although not essential.
* Experience in M&E type projects involving new-builds and retrofit desirable although not essential.
* Working knowledge of a variety of standard forms of contract

Main Purpose: The purpose of this role is to breakdown client enquiries and prepare detailed tenders/quotations that allow to tender target opportunities competitively, successfully and above all profitably. The tender return shall demonstrate a sound understanding of the client requirements, accurately estimating our costs whilst ensuring we utilise the company's strengths to maximise competitive advantages.

Harmonise tendering working practices across profit centers - Rail, Utilities, Private Networks and the Northern Office.
Experience in a similar role is essential along with current qualifications.

Job Title: Project Planner
Location: Crawley / Swanley
Reporting to: Business Improvements Manager
Main Purpose: This is an ideal role for an individual seeking a career working in a dynamic project management environment within the Rail, Private Network & Utilities sectors.
You will form part of the Project Management team to provide technical resource to develop, maintain and report on project programme's using Primavera P6 and Microsoft project.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop fully resourced and cost loaded project programmes using data provided by the Project Management team. · Develop fully resourced and cost loaded project programmes using data provided by the Sales bid team. · Maintain project programmes as required by the Project Managers to create reports on cost and schedule in accordance with client requirements. · Issue routine standardised performance reports for all major projects · Identify key variances on the project programmes and report the data in the form of reports & graphs. · Provide Earned Value, critical path analysis, forecasts and look ahead reports to support cost to complete reviews. · Provide look ahead information to the project team members / sub-contractors to facilitate the issue of work packages and collate feedback on progress information.
Competencies: · Formal training in Primavera and/or MS Project. · Minimum of 3 years' experience of working with Primavera and Microsoft Project. · Good IT skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint. · Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills · Ability to multi-task and have the ability to effectively manage own time and meet deadlines · Ability to take ownership and follow tasks through to completion · Excellent organisational skills · Attention to detail · Team player · Ability to work under pressure · Flexible · Strategic planning and schedule development · Pro-active approach and a willingness to contribute new ideas · Full Driving license · Project Management qualification (desirable) · Rail, Private Networks, Utilities experience desirable although not essential. · Experience in M&E type projects involving new-builds
