IP Network Engineer - Our client is a major tier 1 global carrier with one of the world’s largest international IP networks. The wholesale team provide IP Network Services to other Telecoms Operators, ISPs and Network Solutions partners across EMEA and worldwide. Due to growth they are now looking to recruit an IP Network Engineer.


IP Network Engineer Role:

• Provisioning – assigning IP addresses, router ports, cabling demarcs. Configuring routers with customer configurations (BGP, static routing, etc.), using in-house config tools. Working with customers to turn-up new services and ensure proper connectivity prior to handover as a “live” service.
• Moves/Adds/Changes/Deletions. Perform customer migrations, additions & changes to existing configurations (occasionally out-of-hours), and complete customer cancellation/termination requests.
• Assist Wholesale Project Management to process Sales Order Forms into the ticketing & CRM system.
• Troubleshooting customer-related issues. Occasionally support NOC/Operations teams in troubleshooting customer issues, where applicable.
• Pre-sales. Support Sales teams in technical aspects of orders during pre-sales discussions with prospective customers.
• Liaising with internal teams (Project Management, Order Management, etc.) to ensure customers are provisioned / disconnected in a timely manner.
• Maintain documentation to a high standard to ensure continued efficiency.
• Working with IP Engineering Team to highlight potential resource issues (router ports, backbone capacity) within the European IP network, or to put forward suggestions for improvements to the customer’s experience.


IP Network Engineer Experience:

• Understanding of the design and operation of IP backbone and access network. Some experience of Cisco/Juniper devices and configurations.
• Must be technically experienced with a keen eye for detail, but also have excellent people skills to establish a good rapport with customers and internal colleagues.
• Should be able to multi-task and work flexibly, both as a team player but also independently.
• Meticulous, understands the need for consistent record-keeping / documentation.
• Strategic and logical thinking.
• Managing own projects and achieving targets with colleagues in teamwork.



IP Network Engineer desirable Education:

• Desirable: Low-level technical certification from a major routing vendor - CCNA/JNCIA etc

The High Touch Operations Manager has the following responsibilities:

• Supports delivery of High Touch Technical Support (HTTS) program to major accounts, or Global Technical Centre (TAC) where applicable.

Cisco Architecture & Technology Knowledge

General understanding of networking technologies and services.

Educational Background Recommended

Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Experience in a network engineering, customer service delivery or telecommunications support environment.
ITIL v3 Foundation and Service Operations are highly desirable.
CCNA/CCENT is desirable, but not essential.
