Our client, a Specialist Investment Banking Group based in London is looking for a Senior Desktop Support Engineer, with a genuine passion for IT and technology and an enthusiastic yet professional attitude. The Senior Desktop Support Engineer will need to punctual and reliable, daily duties will include but not be limited to providing IT support to all employees on the trade floor, be able to work within a strong service orientated department, providing a high/polite standard of service to our end users
Responsibilities
Provide a high level of customer service
To support users and maintain all internal systems
Should be adaptable as they could be going from helping a trader to changing a toner, to assisting a user over the telephone
To create and maintain system documentation
To plan the maintenance and upgrade of system as and when required
Personable Individual who is easily approachable
To comply and keep up-to-date with the current regulations and internal policies and procedures
To ensure that systems and networks are fully functional in the event of a disaster (incl. backups)
Technical / Business Skills
Exposure to and knowledge of Fidessa – would be desirable
Exposure to and knowledge of Swift / Crest
Some understanding of stock broking and trade flow
Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all levels
Excellent understanding of desktop OS, good understanding of handheld devices, and basic understanding of server technology
Understand principles of IT Networking and Security
Good customer facing skills
Ability to gather, correlate, and analyse facts; provide recommendation; define problems; and deliver solutions.

A growing online social networking organisation are currently looking for a Helpdesk Support Engineer who can work effectively answering first line support queries in person, or via phone electronically, escalating where necessary.
This organisation work in an Apple Mac environment, they are currently utilising Mac OS x 10.6 and 10.7, they are looking to upgrade to 10.8 soon. You will be expected to solve issues with employee computers, networks and servers, roll out new starters, training employees on the systems and helping with general issues.
Skills required:
- Experience working in a helpdesk environment supporting Mac.
- Mac OSx 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8 knowledge. Lion, Mountain Lion or Snow leopard.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and windows server
- Basic Hardware troubleshooting
- Understanding of Network fundamentals, TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls etc.
- Experience with Apple Mail, Google Mail, iCal and Office for Mac are desirable.
- Microsoft or Apple Certifications are a bonus.
- Strong communication skills.

Software Systems Specialist - London
The job holder researches and recommends the appropriate system software to meet corporate standards and objectives for system performance. Position: Help Desk Technician
Location: London
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 per annum
Contract: Maternity up to 12 month contract
ROLE:
The Helpdesk Technician / IT Support Engineer role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritising, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
b) Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers.
c) Prioritise and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
d) Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
e) Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
f) Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
g) Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organisation.
h) Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
i) Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
j) Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved. Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or proven equivalent work experience.
b) MCP Certifications in one or more relevant areas i.e. operating systems, SQL, Office etc.
c) Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including hard drives, monitors, mice, CD drives, printers and other peripherals.
d) Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including XP, 7, 8, Windows 2003/2008/2012. Experience within a Microsoft networked environment. Experience of Microsoft products such as Office 2003/2007/2010, SQL, IIS.
e) Extensive application support experience.
f) Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.
g) Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
h) Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required and able to absorb and retain information quickly.
i) Highly self motivated and directed; keen attention to detail; proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
j) Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
