The School of Performing Arts consists of two Sections, 'Drama and Performing Arts' and 'Music' and it operates from two College centres. Within the next academic year there will be in the region of 320 further education and 90 full-time Higher Education students following full-time programmes in the School.
The curriculum is organised within two sections which include Drama and Performing arts and Music. The School of Performing Arts benefits from the Arthur Cotterell Theatre and Big Head Music Studios which are both located at College sites.
As a Lecturer within Performing Arts, you will be expected to teach across the range of their provision as required and may also take some responsibility for providing course leadership and tutorial support on one of the programmes. You will also be called upon to teach elsewhere in the School as required. They are looking for a candidate who is a team-player and whose skills complement those of the existing team. Some specialist skills related to voice, singing and/or musical theatre are of particular interest although other skills may also be useful.
Candidates must hold a degree or professional qualification in appropriate subject and should also hold a teaching qualification. Non-qualified candidates must achieve the Preparing to Teach Award (PTLLS) within one year of the start of their employment with the College and the Diploma in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector (DTLLS), including gaining QTLS within five years, as outlined in the Further Education Teachers' Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007 and 2001.
Teacher-trained applicants must be able to show that they have participated recently in staff development to update their teaching skills and to remain abreast of current developments in teaching.
The ability to support, motivate and empathise with learners, work well under pressure to agreed deadlines and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team is essential. You will also have high personal standards and expectations, good organizational and administrative skills and the enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education.
In addition, you will be required to assist with enrolment procedures, which may require additional hours including evenings and weekends, therefore a flexible working approach is required.

The curriculum in the School of Science & Computing encompasses the vocational subjects for both FE and HE. The School is organised into two Sections; each with a Section Head. Each Section Head will supervise the teaching teams and be directly accountable to the Head of School. One Section will be focussed upon FE Science & Computing and one Section will be focussed upon HE Science & Computing.
With this in mind, they are now looking to recruit a Lecturer within Computing for the FE Science & Computing section on a maternity cover contract.
The focus of this role is to teach FE vocational computing at Level 2 and 3. The specific required areas of computing are data and systems analysis and programming, however offering other computing areas up to Level 3 would be an advantage and you may also be asked to contribute to the HE teaching in vocational computing.
As a personal tutor to a number of FE vocational computing groups, your key focus is to help the Head of Section ensure that your students meet and exceed their target grades, they use ALIS for assessing value added and their expectation is that high levels of student attainment will be achieved. This role is key in providing a high quality student experience and outstanding outcomes in computing and you will work on teaching schemes, assessment schedules (including coursework) and student monitoring.
It is essential that candidates hold a degree or professional qualification in an area relevant to the position coupled with a teaching qualification. Reporting to the Head of School who may devolve responsibility to the Technical Facilities Manager within the School, you will be responsible for the maintenance and servicing of specialist equipment and facilities, preparing materials and providing technical support in the teaching and learning process.
Ensuring equipment and materials for use in the workshops and classrooms are prepared and available and maintaining stock levels and any associated and administrative records, you will also manufacture, maintain and repair equipment as appropriate to expertise and organise routine checks to ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
With a sound knowledge of engineering practice, you will be skilled in the use of equipment and the preparation of materials, and will also possess problem solving skills and creative ability.
Above all you will be flexible in your approach, diligent in meeting deadlines and have the ability to work well with other staff and students along with taking responsibility for your own work. Good administrative and IT skills are essential; candidates who do not possess these skills must be willing to gain these skills.
Candidates who hold formal educational and/or technical qualifications to Level 3/GCE A Level or equivalent and have experience of working in a school or college environment would be desirable, however this is not essential.
Working hours will be timetabled annually and may include an evening or a Saturday morning/afternoon. In addition to these hours you will be required to assist with special events organised by the College and/ or the School, therefore a flexible working approach is required.

They are now looking to recruit an Assessor/Instructor within Motor Vehicle.
The Assessor/Lecturer within Motor Vehicle will be responsible, in the first instance, to the Head of Section and, through him/her, to the Head of School. As an Instructor you will be expected to support the delivery of any motor vehicle engineering course provision within the Section as required. As an Assessor you will be expected to facilitate the effective and efficient assessment of the courses and subjects under their guidance. You should also be prepared to work across sections within the School.
You will train students in workshops with or without a member of lecturing staff present, in the acquisition of specified vocational skills; training to include both group demonstration of techniques and assisting individual students and will assist and support lecturing staff in formal classes, for example in dealing with large groups, providing individual student support or invigilating examinations.
In addition you will also develop and facilitate the instruction and assessment of ATA courses as well as assisting with the assessment and monitoring of candidates on Level 2 and Level 3 Motor Vehicle programmes.
In line with government regulations on teaching in FE, their Assessor/Instructors are required to hold full teaching qualifications. In order to progress past the bar at spinal point 29 and spinal point 30 on the scale when you reach it, you will be required to successfully complete appropriate teaching qualifications. Non-qualified candidates must achieve the Preparing to Teach Award (PTLLS) within one year of the start of their employment with the College and the Diploma in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector (DTLLS), including gaining QTLS within five years, as outlined in the Further Education Teachers’ Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007 and 2001.
Candidates must also hold a recent recognised TDLB Assessor Awards (D32, D33) or A1, V1 and hold appropriate Motor Vehicle Engineering and Instructor qualifications.
Above all, the successful candidate will be a well-organised, self-motivated teacher and practitioner, who has the ability to work with the 16-19 year olds, as well as adults. They need someone who is imaginative, creative and has the ability to work across a range of levels.
