Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager
Our client is a High Street retailer, with a specific market aim of 7-15 year olds.
Position: Store Manager + Assistant Store Manager
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Salary: £18k - £26k DOE
ROLE:
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Store Manager/ Assistant Store Manager to join a new retail store in Canterbury High Street. Reporting to the owners, the right candidate will have the opportunity to help build a new store from its inception. They have a very strong people focus and have high standards in customer services.
Significant opportunities are available as the chain expands, and this role will allow considerable influence in the operational store direction of the chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) The position requires a high achiever who feels that they can grow with the company and the owners and be able to help drive the new store chain.
b) Create a vibrant and enjoyable shopping experience for their customers.
c) Maximise sales and profits by delivering the company strategy at store level.
d) Ensure store KPIs are achieved.
e) Lead the team to develop the store, staff and customer service.
f) Assist in building a strong team of staff.
g) Store presentation, Delivery and stock management, Shrinkage control.
h) Involvement in local marketing and merchandising.
i) Assistant Manager will be required to deputise for the Store Manager on occasions.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) You will needs to be an experienced, commercial and passionate Retail Store Manager, or a Deputy/Assistant Store Manager with a proven track record in, ideally, managing a fast paced, high volume store as a commercial Manager.
b) Proven track record in the management of a store, ideally in the youth sector. This position may suit an ambitious assistant/deputy manager looking to progress.
c) Knowledge of youth trends; Knowledge of ‘volume’ would be advantageous.
d) High enthusiasm and the desire to grow with a new company.
e) Commercial numeracy and acumen.
You may have experience of the following: Store Manager, Retail Management, FMCG, Branch Manager, etc.

Mechanical Project Engineer Home based to £35-40k
Our client specialise in the provision of bespoke automation and materials handling solutions to some of the biggest names in the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing planned program of strategic expansion, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, dynamic and highly self motivated and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to complement their established and successful project team.
Working with fellow Project Engineers, the successful candidate will be tasked with consulting on the design and development of a Grocery Home Shopping network for a major retailer within the UK. Whilst based from home, you will regularly be required to travel to Leeds in this position.
The successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified in a relevant mechanical engineering related discipline and will demonstrate a proven background and track record allied to materials handling systems or automation projects. You will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work both autonomously well as part of a multiskilled team, and will be comfortable in working closely in a customer facing environment with internal and external contacts, so exceptional communication skills at all levels are essential for the position.
You will be responsible for a range of project activities including (but not limited to) extensive equipment selection and design whilst working with multiple suppliers, interpreting supplier specifications, solution costing and value engineering activities, initial contract specification and subsequent communication with suppliers and the customer at various stages of the project.
To be considered for this varied and extremely challenging position, you will demonstrate previous materials handling installation and project management experience as well as the ability to write and produce tender documents and technically appraise solutions on a diverse range of customer projects. Additionally you will be flexible to travel throughout the UK and Europe and therefore a valid passport and a full driving licence are essential for the position.
