Our client is an established Group business with offices in Southampton and the Channel Islands providing services to the London investment securities markets.

The Group employs technology and automation to deliver success to the business and is commencing a strategic review of all its business applications. This is expected to result in a major programme of business software development. To assist in achieving its objective the Group seeks to recruit a Senior Software Development specialist who will report to the Group C.E.O.

Applicants must demonstrate through qualification and proven track record that they have: -
• Experience in supporting business users and the daily challenges they face,
• Knowledge in system development life cycles and relevant methodologies,
• Expertise in managing software development, delivery, and implementation using third party software providers,
• Knowledge of infrastructure and communications technologies working with third party hosting companies,

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role:

A well known manufacturer and supplier of storage, distribution and utilities equipment for the food and brewery industries is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to provide electrical design for company products, to carry out fault finding during production and at customer's premises and to undertake design work for other electrical and mechanical projects.

The postholder will design, using CAD, wiring arrangements in AutoCAD electrical, control panel design/layouts and schematic wiring. In this role you will select and approve brought-out electrical and electronic components and program PLC controllers such as Millennium and RDM, and will provide support for sales and application personnel. Responsibilities also include fault finding and repairs at panel-build and functional test stages. In addition, all drawing work must be completed in line with company systems including BOMs and Routings. You will also conduct site visits and carry out general drawing work for other ranges such as products and coils. The postholder will also write internal test procedures and method risk assessment statements for site work and train personnel in electrical engineering methods as well as conducting other design duties as requested.

Candidates for this role must have a good knowledge of single and three phase motor control and drives and of the application of electronic controls. Candidates will be adept with CAD and computer aided drafting ability ie AutoCAD Electrical. You will have experience of electrical test and fault-finding methods and a knowledge of component testing and of electrical controls. Successful candidates will possess a basic understanding of wiring and panel assembly methods, have a full driving license and may have an understanding of basic refrigeration system and controls. Naturally you will be computer literate in Office, Excel and Word and have good interpersonal skills enabling you to work in a team.
