As a Tester in Trinity Mirror you will be helping to deliver sites that have combined monthly audience of close to 20 million people. The role of the Tester/Automated Tester involves helping to develop/maintain a new testing environment. Implementing an end-to-end test automation solution, such that testing is applied correctly at all stages of development.
Candidates should have extensive experience of automated testing throughout all development disciplines, not just QA system-level testing. For example candidates should have an understanding of Test Driven Development and its value within Agile development.
They should be familiar with unit, integration and system testing and how and where to run and monitor each testing layer. Candidates should have demonstrable experience of implementing integration tests using standard frameworks and tools, and have the necessary technical skills to glue code to business facing tests.
Candidates should have experience using test automation tools such as Selenium 2 / WebDriver for testing web applications.
Candidates should have implemented load tests and appreciate the difficulties and complexities of load testing, demonstrating understanding of which tools can be used to load test different protocols.
To succeed in this role, you will have to come from a development background with a passion for good quality code, or a testing/QA background with a lot of hands on development experience. You should know how software can efficiently be built and tested. You will also have the confidence and ability to liaise directly with developers, if necessary coaching them in good practices as well as business product owners.
Ideally you should be of Degree calibre, have proven experience as a tester and have a working Knowledge of Agile Scrum Methodology, working Knowledge of Commercial Web Sites.
