We are working with a mainstream primary school in Dover who require a qualified teaching assistant with proven experience working one to one with SEN children. This maternity cover contract is to begin in September and continue until the end of the calendar year. The role is to work one to one with a statemented pupil with ASD in year 2 and to provide support to the class teacher. You will have experience working with the KS1 and 2 curriculums and children with MLD and ASD. Ideally you will be NVQ L2 and be able to provide support to small groups of children as required. The child also requires some lunch time support in order to facilitate his social interactions.
This is a small and friendly school with a dedicated senior leadership team. This school is undergoing exciting changes and this will be a very rewarding experience for the right teaching assistant with a possibility to apply for permanent employment. The school is accessible by limited public transport so own transport would be advantageous.

SECONDARY SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT JOB IN DOVER
Hays Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant job for a secondary school in Dover. We are looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic and hardworking Teaching Assistant to work in their specialist SEN unit, assisting students who have Profound, Severe and Complex Learning Disabilities.
The teaching assistant will be expected to ‘assist’ with the teaching and delivery of lessons. This may be helping the teacher with planning and preparation of materials, taking small groups of pupils or individuals for 1:1 help or assisting a child with the actual work itself. Above all supporting children’s learning and trying and enabling the pupils to do as much of their work as possible independently.
This is a long term temporary position to start in September working on a full time basis (32.5 hours)
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant post you will:
- Have a minimum of 6 months referenceable experience of supporting SEN pupils in the last 2 years
- Hold Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Have an ability to work as part of a team coordinating the care of a pupil (including class teacher, parents and outside agencies
- Have the ability to implement and contribute to IBPs
