Job Title: Special Applications Sales Engineer Supervisor
Location: Near Croydon, Surrey
Reporting to: UK Sales Director

Job purpose:
•To supervise and train the Special Application Sales Engineers (AE’s).
•To design, estimate and provide high quality quotations against customer requirements.
•To follow up and clarify quotations and where successful provide detailed specifications to the Project Team ensuring that we are able to meet agreed delivery dates. With an added focus to visit UK customer’s to promote company capability and attend detailed clarification meetings
•To assist in the departments administration work and help with the preparation of financial budgets and reports.
•To assist the regional Sales offices and RTSM’s with both technical and commercial support.
•To review and approve work of subordinates and continue to develop and refine department tools to meet targets.
Job Contact:
•Report directly to the UK Process Sales Director
•Liase & support the Process Sales Engineers & RTSM’s in the UK, France, Germany, Thailand, Middle East, India and the USA. To liase with the Project & Materials Team and with Production
•External contact with customers, suppliers, agents and client’s 3rd-party inspectors
•Provide technical assistance to the Standard Products and Components Departments
•Seek support and assistance from the Technical Director and other standards engineers in USA.
Principal Accountabilities:
•Design and produce detailed specifications for process heaters, supplying quotations that maintain or improve the department’s conversion rate and profitability. To understand the risks and liabilities of Terms and Conditions and negotiate acceptable Term on behalf of the company
•Check cost estimates from internal matrixes against order requirements and determine material costs, drawing office hours and labour costs to cover build and test. Transfer information to the Project Team within the agreed time-frame to ensure on-time delivery.
•Ensure that technical information is converted into drawings, instructions and detailed specifications by liasing with the Drawing Office which are accurate and clear for the Production Department.
•Liase with customers to ensure that the maximum number of quotations results in orders and visit both new and existing customers to maximise growth and provide customer service.
•Contribute help and advice on all matters on process systems sales and design to the Engineering and Production departments to promote understanding and ensure good customer service.
•Review and approve the Sales Engineers designs, estimates quotations and transfer information.
•Actively participate in improving the department design and estimating tools and recommend new methods and tools to the benefit of the department and company.
Knowledge, skills & experience
•Minimum educational or academic background required: HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. The job loading is 60% Mechanical to 40% Electrical.
•Specific fields of expertise: Design of heaters for process heat applications, an appreciation of process philosophy and terminology. Hazardous area legislation for Europe & knowledge of global requirements.
•Ability to supervise and train a small team of engineers.
•Familiarity with the Oil & Gas market sector and oil company specification would be advantageous.
•Excellent communication skills and proven sales record. A second language could be advantageous.
•Other specific knowledge: Good knowledge of MS Office applications and experience of AutoCad is essential. The main design tool for the electric heaters is MTASC (HTFS). Familiarity with mainframe databases advantageous.
•Basic field experience of operating equipment within the process environment is advantageous.
