Purpose of Job:
• To conduct concept, detail, assembly and production designs, design calculations and analysis.
• To work with colleagues and customers to overcome technical challenges and develop practical and innovative mechanical designs, using SolidWorks 3D CAD for the engineering of equipment, systems and components.

Principal Accountabilities:

Project work
• Work on new projects from a given specification and/or product improvements
• To generate GA and detail drawings and BOMs ensuring they are to agreed standards and within specification
• Generate comprehensive component specifications
• Re-designing existing products and new designs
• To reduce product costs by re-designing existing designs to increase profitability including designing new components and/or assembly processes
• To undertake and record calculations on studies to validate the design
• Issue clear and comprehensive instructions for quality and production
• To work with Development Technicians in producing and developing prototypes

Production Engineering
• Work with Test Technicians in developing tests and test rigs, ensuring effective records are instigated and maintained
• Tooling and jig design for production and PDD products when requested
• Assembly line layout/improvements when requested
• Troubleshoot production engineering problems when requested
• DCR (Design change request) – complete design change engineering requests
• Amend incorrect engineering drawings and BOMs (P13)
• To collaborate fully with Production Engineering on new launch product
• To analyse and effectively record returns, rejects, applications and incorporate this into new designs

CAD
• Construct drawings and apply drafting principles via the use of CAD
• Construct designs including 3D modelling using CAD

General
• Ensure that all products are designed in accordance with customer requirements, company practice and recognised engineering standards
• Improve product design methods and procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment reflective of ‘Technical Excellence Initiative’
• Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your manager

Person Specification:
This position requires the following key skills and attributes:

• Preferably BEng qualification
• Previous experience in a Design Engineer role
• Motor gearbox experience desirable, but realistically experience in designing equipment using motors and gearboxes in applications e.g. stacking/printing/textile/wiper/robotics etc. Anything indicating complex calculations and specifications used in designing mechanismsassemblies
• Experience in running design teams
• HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial or Production Engineering
• MEng in Mechanical / Electro mechanical advantageous.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in designing gearboxes and/or motors. If not specific experience, then experience in calculations for specifying motors and gearboxes in applications i.e. torque, power, stress as a minimum
• Broad knowledge and expertise of Engineering
• Knowledge of modern design, development techniques and best practice
• A creative approach for generating new ideas
• A sound knowledge of CAD software
• Experience of castings, mouldings, machined components and assembly techniques
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Excellent numerical skills
• Ability to produce work consistently to a high standard within tight deadlines

Ideally you will have a proven track record of successful land acquisition and experience in all aspects of land buying. You should be able to demonstrate flexibility, diligence, an ability to take responsibility and a strong interest and determination to develop a career in land buying.

As a Buildings Manager, you will be responsible for providing a cost effective and professional support service to customers requiring repairs and alterations at first occupation along with an on-going quality assurance programme and an after sales customer service function.

The role not only covers administration and quality checks, but also includes the practical rectification of defects on a 50/50 basis.

Within the role you will be required to check the standards of finish of flats and communal areas to confirm that they are to Company standard, preparing reports on the quality found on inspection and liaising with the Construction Department to ensure that any problems are satisfactorily resolved. Candidates for this role should hold a flexible approach to their work with a willingness to spend 3/4 days per week attending developments within the region and be on call for emergency purposes to give information to House Managers/Clients. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent as a minimum, you will hold a technical qualification in Building such as City & Guilds and have considerable general building experience with an emphasis on a trades or management background.
