You will oversee the Performance Development Review (PDR) system for the assigned customer base ensuring that it is embraced by the organisation to develop individuals and improve performance standards on a year-by-year basis. My client, a leading company in Sound and vibration measurement are looking for a Mechanical Design engineer to be a major contributor in establishing and producing the design and development of Electro-mechanical vibration test systems.

Responsibilities will include:

• Produce high quality mechanical new product designs to specification and on time, to develop design from first principles using best practice processes and systems, and ensuring compliance with existing and upcoming regulations.
• To provide mechanical technical solutions from within the R&D team.
• To work closely with Product Managers to ensure solutions are in line with market requirements, and internal and external customer requirements.
• To provide mechanical design solutions for the engineering team using design tools (3D CAD (Solidworks), legacy 2D CAD (ME10), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) & Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• To complete acceptance testing (both in factory – FAT, and at customer site – SAT.
• To work in line with the group technical direction strategies and design procedures. Some limited international travel will be required.
• To provide clear and consistent communication on design progress to project and senior management.

Desirable skills:

• A degree in Engineering Design (Electro-Mechanical) subject or discipline.
• 5+ years demonstrable experience in a mechanical design and development role working in a design for manufacture product development environment.
• Significant experience in:
o Mechanical system design including electro-mechanical systems.
o Testing and Developing of prototype designs
o Product lifecycle with product approvals / CE compliance
o Compiling of product technical files
• Competence on design based IT systems: Essential (E) Advantage (A)
o 3D CAD (Solidworks) (E)
o 2D CAD (ME10) (A)
o FEA (Solidworks Simulation) (A)
o CFD (Fluent) (A)
