My Angus based client who are a FMCG Production organisation have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join them with a view to progressing into Operations Management upon completion of a probationary period.
As part of the site Senior Management team the successful candidate will ensure a constant, smooth, safe & efficient factory operation in order to deliver the production plan within agreed budgetary & service levels. This role is ideally suited to a Manufacturing Process / Industrial Engineer with excellent continuous improvement knowledge, man management skills and ambition to move into Operations Management or alternatively a Graduate who has relevant work experience looking to progress.
Based on the production floor the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for looking at current process in place on the factory floor and making improvements looking at statistical figures and current performance, analysing data and route cause analysis and providing guidance to improve productivity. Plan and monitor daily/weekly labour & equipment requirements and ongoing progress of the operation identifying any shortfalls/overages & develop and implement an appropriate response in order to increase productivity and/or make cost savings
Once the probationary period has been completed this role will progress into Operations Management deputising for the General Manager and responsible for all departments including Operations, Planning, and despatch.
Skills / Experience Required
- Previous experience in the FMCG sector is preferred although not essential
- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Process / Industrial Engineering role is essential
- Good head for data analysis and familiar with continuous improvement techniques and setting and monitoring of KPI’s
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Production Planning experience would be advantageous
- Problem Solving skills to analyse, decide, prioritise and plan. Can balance short term requirements with long term objectives to achieve commercial goals
- Experience of managing a team to deliver production plans with products with short shelf life products and requiring intensive labour usage
- Proven experience of successfully managing a team including performance management, conduct, adherence to company policies & procedure including disciplinary, grievance & attendance issues

Instrument Technician
A ONC qualified Instrument Technician with prior experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical sector is required for an initial 2 month contract in the Dundee area.
The Instrument Technician role is responsible for maintaining and calibrating instrumentation within a hazardous atmosphere. The successful applicant will have prior experience of working on plant equipment to include pressure, temperature, flow measurement, control, engine governors, PLC logic, proximity sensors, fire and gas detection and extinguishment.
Candidates will need to be qualified to ONC level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and should ideally hold current CompEX certification along with a good working knowledge of permit to work systems and risk assessments. Relevant candidates will need experience in a similar Instrument Technician role with exposure to compressors, rotating equipment and gas-driven machinery.
Key requirements for the Instrument Technician role are:
- Prior experience in a similar Instrument maintenance focused role within the oil and gas or petrochem sectors
- ONC qualified in a relevant instrumentation focused discipline with CompEX certification
- Experience of working on plant equipment to include pressure, temperature, flow measurement, control, engine governors, PLC logic, proximity sensors, fire and gas detection and extinguishment.
- Working knowledge of permit to work systems and risk assessments
As an instrument technician you will play a lead role in the maintenance delivery of a key site within the UK Utilities network.
We can offer you:
- Initial 2 month contract (will be extended upon completion due to amount of work that needs completing)
