About the role
Market dynamics over the last two years has highlighted weaknesses in valuation and risk models and tools that have
played a significant role in measuring and monitoring risk and business performance. Events over recent history have
shown that risk can materialise and result in major losses and that capital needs to be prudently allocated. Firms are
increasingly looking to maintain a strong capital base and are guiding their businesses towards balancing profit
potential, risk and capital usage. Financial institutions also must comply with new regulations relating to capital
adequacy and liquidity released by the Basil Committee on Banking Supervison (BCBS) and the Financial Services Committee
(FSA).

You will help our clients improve their approach to risk management and valuation issues by reviewing value at risk
(VaR), counterparty risk, stress testing methodologies and model validation issues. You can also undertake independent
calculations of valuations and risk or perform model validation activities in order to highlight areas that need
improving for our clients. Your skills may also be called to design and build a methodology or model for valuation or
portfolio risk purposes. You can also assist clients to embed these new tools in their operational procedures

About you
We're looking for people to join our team who have a good academic record with at least a 2.1 or above in their first
degree and a 340 UCAS tariff or equivalent. We're looking for candidates with a PhD in a highly numerate discipline such
as;

- Mathematics
- Physics
- Control Engineering
- Computer Sciences

You'll also need relevant practical experience of applying your technical knowledge, as well as having used your
initiative and team-working skills during university.
