Our client has over 30 years of unrivalled experience in pumps and pumping. They have a proven track record of delivering
high quality pumps and pumping systems to all sectors in particular the water and waste industry.

Having deployed thousands of pumping systems they fully understand our clients' needs and the technical requirements
involved. Our client is well-known for the quality of their workmanship and their high level of technical ability.

Our client is now looking to recruit a Pump Application Engineer that will work in the Delivery Team producing quotations
for pumps and pumping systems. They will work closely with the company's Area Sales Managers and also with distributors,
contractors and consultants to arrive at the right solution for the customer. They will work closely within the small
knit team to drive business to meet the objectives of the marketing plan.

The Pump Application Engineer will be expected to deliver the following:

1. Receive sales enquiries and determine the selection of the proper pump hydraulic, motor and overall system set-up to
satisfy engineering requirements.
2. Calculate systems losses and produce system curves as necessary.
3. Work closely with clients, including meetings at client's premises when necessary, to ensure that the proposed
specification is understood and compliant.
4. Produce a costed Bill of Materials that meets the specification.
5. Use financial and market awareness to correctly set margins for each quote.
6. Prepare, check and send a quotation to the client and generally administer the quote, including use of the company
quote and order processing system.
7. Check the progress of a quotation at intervals with the customer or Area Sales Manager
8. Check for possible modifications to the selection both pre and post order.
9. Work closely with the Projects Team both during quotation stage and post order
10. Learn the product range and keep abreast of technical changes within the industry
11. Carry out detailed engineering analysis on more complicated projects as required.
12. Evaluate / help to develop software programmes to help with the above.


This role could suit a wide range of candidates from new graduates through to experienced Pump Application Engineers. The
successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude. They will be comfortable with growth and change and they will
be excited to learn. The overwhelming requirement is for someone who can work happily and effectively in teams. The
successful candidate will also have:

Either a Bachelors Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or experience in the pump industry in quoting, specifying
or designing pumps and pump systems.

An ability to identify and manage multiple priorities and work independently.

An ability to proactively organize and meet deadlines

Excellent communication skills, fluent in the English language

Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office

A good understanding of the financial aspects of optimizing profits and margins.

Must be able to work extremely well in teams

Must be able to talk confidently with customers

Able to perform design calculations for e.g. pump sizes, flow rates, equipment selection


In addition the following would be seen as welcome:

Experience in computational design
Experience in CFD analysis
Ability to speak and/or write German
Higher level of Microsoft Excel skills
Experience of pumping system design software
