Outline and Responsibilities:
Rise to the challenge of driving our axle assembly shop welding processes to the next level. Planning and developing automated MIG welding processes to continuously improve quality and efficiency to meet future demand for our products in this vital role. Working cross functionally alongside other manufacturing support departments, your skills and abilities will be stretched and developed on a daily basis.
Nissan Sunderland plant is one of the most efficient and successful vehicle manufacturing plants in Europe and is experiencing high demand for our Qashqai, JUKE and NOTE models. In addition we are preparing for the arrival of the world's first mass produced electric passenger car, the Nissan Leaf that will ensure more exciting and innovative engineering challenges for many years to come. In particular, you will be responsible for your own process related projects from start to finish including providing technical support to production and be flexible with a strong work ethic.
Assigned to the axle engineering section, you will work closely with production to support, introduce and develop welding processes.
You will have responsibility for all aspects of the planning process including raising specifications for the procurement of robotic
MIG welding lines and fixtures etc for new models. Through cross-functional working you'll have a lead role in carrying out process
improvements including quality concern analysis and countermeasure implementation.
You will also have responsibility for managing your projects to achieve required schedules and budgets.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
You'll need to have an Engineering related degree, with experience in automated robotic MIG welding/ manual MIG welding environment or
a substantial technical / engineering background together with HND level certification. Practical problem solving and communication skills are absolutely essential.
Planning, schedule control & project management
Robotic/automated MIG Welding experience
Good Quality concern investigation skills
Ability to lead and work as part of a cross functional team
Good communication & negotiation skills
Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office
