Introduction:
My client is a fast growing process & engineering consultancy specialising in industrial utilities & energy reduction
projects, they work with large blue chip clients both in the UK and overseas. Due to continued expansion they now require
a Mechanical Project Engineer based in Fleet, Hampshire reporting to the Engineering Project Manager. The successful
candidate will have extensive knowledge of cooling systems and refrigeration and will be responsible for engineering
projects from investigation stage through concept design to built solutions.
Please note, you must be flexible in your approach to work as this position involves overseas travel as & when required.
This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well
suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force with a
mechanical background.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand the cooling system & all of its components & how they interact.
- Gather information from site visits, model and analyse the operation of the system.
- Knowledge of Heat pumps, cooling systems, valves, heat exchangers, flow meters & pipework systems.
- Identify ways to improve the performance of the system.
- The ability to create heat & mass balance & conversant with physical properties of fluids.
- To have a structured approach to problem solving & the ability to present calculations & working methods clearly &
concisely using MS Excel.
- Size & select pumps, valves, heat exchangers & pipework systems.
- Knowledge of refrigerants & refrigeration technology including heat pumps would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is an advantage.
- Able to understand systems from first principals.
Applicant Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical or chemical engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards).
- Extensive knowledge of cooling systems & refrigeration.
- Proven experience of working within a similar role.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
- Technical report writing skills.
- Proven track record of working in engineering design or in a manufacturing environment on industrial sites.
- Self motivated & able to work independently.
- Current UK Driving Licence & access to a car.
