Senior Software Engineer
Fareham
A major Defence organisation are looking to secure the services of a Senior Software Engineer at their site in Fareham
Senior Software Engineer Responsibilities:
* Develop software applications and/or tools that contains logical and mathematical solutions
* Conduct initial unit testing and/or early system integration testing of developed software applications
* Investigate of problems identified during test, including problem diagnosis and solution proposal
* Prepare operating instructions for the software application and/or tool
* Apply the appropriate standards, processes and principles in his/her daily activities
* Maintain requirements tracing through to test procedures, results and associated artefacts
* Be assigned to other teams or projects as required
* Deputise for Software Team Lead(s) as required
Senior Software Engineer Requirements:
* Enthusiastic self-starter with good verbal communication
* Excellent written communication through the use of e-mail, presentation and formal reports
* Comprehensive understanding of various software development methodologies
* Ability to work with due attention to schedule and cost constraints
* Design software using functional and/or object oriented methodologies within a UML toolset (for example, IBM Rhapsody)
* Adherence to process within a software development environment
* Experience of third generation software development languages (for example, Ada, C)
Desired skills:
* ATM experience would be advantageous but is not a pre-requisite
* Good understanding of the principles of systems engineering, and integration and test
* Software development within a real-time and/or safety-related system
* Experience of modern software development languages, including web services
* Code development in Jovial, Ada, C and/or C
* Generation of Unix scripts, for example Perl
