Lead Systems Engineer
Location - Edinburgh
Salary - up to 50,000
An opportunity has arisen within this organisation in their Radar and Advanced Targeting line-of-business in Edinburgh for an experienced technical leader to drive forward key development activities on electronically scanned fast-jet radar programmes, requiring the technical leadership of a group of Systems Engineering staff engaged in a diverse range of design activities.
The role demands full ownership to be taken for the completion of multiple complex programme activities and the professional management of emerging issues. An intimate knowledge of both customer requirements and of the evolving system design is required to enable full participation in high level customer meetings. There will be a need to provide regular and comprehensive programme progress briefings to senior management and representatives of the customer community and to engage with programme stakeholders in the development of amendments to the contractual basis.
The successful candidate will be required to lead the team through the various manadatory review stages of the engineering development lifecycle and take a leading role in the review of deliverables. Constant collaboration with other contributing disciplines is an essential component of this role and the ability to articulate hardware, electrical, mechanical, systems and software engineering aspects of the design process will be a key feature of this.
Programes of this type are commercially and technically challenging and are characterised by a varied and complex stakeholder community. The successful candidate will be required to support a variety of internal and external customer facing duties requiring the highest levels of professionalism.
Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge
Exemplary communication skills are an essential pre-requisite to concisely articulate current programme status information and ongoing issues to key stakeholders within the Selex-Galileo community but also in support of senior staff at customer briefings.
Practical experience of the development of complex systems from requirement definition through requirement flow-down, detailed design, implementation. integration to eventual system validation and sell-off is an essential pre-requisite. Strong interpersonal skills are essential along with experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams.
