We are currently seeking a Senior Network Specialist to join our Production Operations team in London. In this newly
created position your primary responsibility will be to design, plan and implement 1st Level network support into the
London Operations team, you will also document this process. You'll also be responsible for providing 1st level support
training for the existing operational team, and provide an operational interface to the systems, networks, QA and
development areas.
Key accountabilities will include:
* Design and plan a program of training for existing Operations team with the objective of extending current
Operational practices and knowledge to include 1st Level Network Support
* Level 1 response to network issues detected via monitors
o Information gathering: Problem description, product or feeds impacted, systems involved, contact information,
diagnostics done.
o Investigation: Validation of problem, isolation of root issue using standard Engineering toolsets.
o Resolution: Correcting issues that are within the abilities of Operations
o Escalation: raising incidents to Network Engineering groups in a timely manner and passing along the appropriate
information.
o Communication: Coordination of information sharing about communication issues via Critical Alerts and Operations
Conference Bridges.
* Troubleshooting Telco Circuit problems and management of carrier issues and maintenance events
* Monitoring, 1st level Support and Incident Management (Alerting and Escalation), to ensure that the IT production
environment is fully functioning, and consistently meets the daily production schedule.
* Ensure production incidents are worked on tirelessly and aggressively to resolution in accordance to the company's
Incident Management process and standards. This involves working with internal customers, 3 rd party suppliers and
internal IT teams and
* Ensuring IT standards are maintained and that security is considered as a high priority in accordance to company
policies.
* Represent Production Operations in daily and weekly production focused meetings with other areas of the organization.
* Keep operational practices documentation up to date both online and in printed form wherever necessary
Essential experience and qualifications:
* Current Linux Red Hat Certified Technician
* Equivalent of 5 or more years workplace experience in a Unix/Linux environment
* Minimum equivalent of 3-7 years' experience in network support - 1 st to 3 rd line
* Current Cisco CCNA or CCNP or equivalent experience
* Understanding of Data Centre technologies
* Knowledge of Network Monitoring fundamentals; SNMP Polling, SNMP Traps, Syslog
