As an Area Manager, you will play a critical role in the supervision of front-line operations within an outbound parcel delivery operation. This role comprises of the management, control and direction of receiving, parcel sortation and delivery functions. Area Managers strive to continuously improve the efficiency of the processes they manage, and instill a culture of best-practice, safety, and customer-focused obsession within their teams.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate requires strong team leadership experience in the transportation delivery industry or a similar fast-paced logistics/distribution environment as you will be:
* Directly responsible for your department which could have a team of up to 50 drivers and sortation staff, which will include dealing with all people related issues as well as ensuring the efficient operation of your department.
* Ensuring the sufficient resourcing of your function including identifying training needs, absence and performance management, coaching and continuous monitoring of department productivity.
* Insisting on the highest standards of customer service.
* Developing and maintaining a strong culture of health and safety practices and initiatives including ensuring practices are compliant with legislation and policy through, monitoring, auditing and reviewing practices on site.
* Demonstrating problem solving and analytical capability.
* Demonstrating the ability to make decisions using your own initiative as well as motivating others and influencing work behaviours.
* Knowledge of and competence in two or more production areas
* Managing and driving production within specified area/s and process improvement through efficiency and change.
* Able and willing to work to flexible schedules/ shifts and commit the time required to get the job done
Basic Qualifications:
* Excel and data analysis skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) is preferred but not essential
