We are looking for:
* Minimum of five years SQL Server experience, working in a complex multi-system support/delivery environment.
* Detailed knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture (up to and including 2008)
* T-SQL (including Dynamic SQL)
* Database and Transaction log backups
* Standby databases/log shipping/Disaster recovery procedures
* SSIS
* Profiler
* Transactional/snapshot/merge replication
* Database Mirroring
* Archiving strategies
* Housekeeping (defrag/stats/etc.)
* Security and Authentication - Ensure all systems are protected from unauthorised access and that authorised users are
limited to functions suitable for their role. All systems must also meet all internal/external audit requirements.
* Standards - Ensure all systems are built and maintained to a common standard ensuring ease of implementation and
ongoing systems maintenance. Able to set and deliver new/enhanced common standards to ensure best practices are always
followed and current.
* Resilience - Protect systems against hardware/software failure and ensure adequate procedures are in place to meet all
backup and recovery requirements.
* Monitoring - Monitor systems and optimise hardware and software to maximise system performance and provide future
capacity planning.
* Design - Provide design assistance for developments and enhancements ensuring best system performance and maintenance
standardisation.
* Maintenance - Application of hardware/software upgrades and patches as supplied by system vendors and perform
periodical/ad-hoc systems maintenance procedures.
* Development - Ability to code automated periodical/ad-hoc system process requirements. All code should always meet set
standards to ensure ease of future maintenance.
